Peace walker is quality, love the way you can drop in and out for a quick mission. That's what I loved about the psp version.

Art style has suffered a bit with the upscale though, still looks good.

Plus you get to play as Big Boss

Amanda

Should have the PS3 version of this coming from LoveFilm in a day or so, can't wait to play through Peace Walker again.

I do love peace walker. It's a great story in it's own right, simplistic compared to previous games but that just makes it easier to follow and the heart of the story is more about the building of outer heaven! By the end I just hated solid snake for wrecking everything big boss worked so hard to develop. It annoys me that he is painted as the villain when he is a much more complex character than solid snake. he's just misunderstood.

Naked snake

I really hope they do another mgs set in the era of big boss, I prefer the cold war setting to the modern pmc stuff the story evolved into. Give me a simplistic spy thriller with bond feel any day!

I read somewhere they were considering doing one based on the boss and then cobra unit, that could be interesting too! Boss was the driving force behind naked snake and therefore the whole mgs storyline so it would be nice to flesh out her story and character a bit more.

Or maybe ocelot

Kojima was, well he wanted his team to start working on it, but they couldn't handle the pressure. :( Still, I'm sure he has MGS5 plans somewhat underway, even if doesn't rear it's head until the next gen.

I'll get it when cheap, if only to play MGS2's glorious opening sequence, MGS3 got rave reviews so I must get into it. Will it ever be cheap though?! Judging by here it's hard to find!

Depends how cheap you want it. You could pick it up in gamestop pre-owned for €35

Can't find this game any where online or in-store! Never had this trouble before. Did they only print 50 copies or something? jokers on eBay already selling it for Silly prices.

There seems to be a few greedy bastards buying online stock to stick in their 'ebay shops'... sure mate.

You can still get the game from Amazon only slightly dearer than it was, from sellers who may or may not include said greedy bastards.

The framerate is kinda bad in the cutscenes. Just like the PS2 version.

Ugh what's up with the random numbers people post on the internet with regard to dog tags? This has really annoyed me. Finally got my guides with me again. You don't need 70 dog tags on the plant for stealth, or 110 (the two figures I found and have now surpassed). You need ONE HUNDRED AND TWENTY ONE.

If anyone wants to know for reference:

Tanker
Bandana 46 tags
Stealth 78 tags

Plant
Infinity wig 73 tags
Stealth 121 tags
Wig B 170 tags
Wig A 218 tags

I've only ever played the original MGS, the original version, and I thought it was pretty sucky and had a nonscensical story, but I suppose at the time it would have been pretty awesome given what had come before. Hopefully, the more up to date games will show what the series is actually capable of once I get around to them.

That's the BEST GAME OF ALL TIME you're talking about there.

There isn't even a hint of 'arguably', genuine belief right there? Madness.

The games are good but have aged badly. Having played just Mgs2 in this collection, probably brings my total number of play thoughts of the game, across formats to 5 or so, it really is nostalgia driving this beast. After the latest play through, I had no urge whatsoever for 3 or peace walker,
(never played them) and I've moved on to other games.

When the Mgs wave was riding high, these were great games for the time, I just really don't think Mgs2 stands up well today. I'm struggling to see the love for it, as a stand alone game today, judged by today's standards?!

When it lets you play it can be quite good, but the problem with MGS2 is the constant hand-holding it does through cut-scenes interrupting you every two minutes.

You get an instruction in one cut scene and, rather than left to it, you then often get a codec conversation and then another movie. And these pepper the task (see: defusing the bombs on the Shell).

Plus there are too many times where you simply play for a minute before being cut off by another movie. The end of the Tanker/opening of the Plant section is awful for this.

It would be alright if the dialogue in the cut-scenes wasn't awful and repetitive. Kojima really needs some to edit his writing.
