I don't really get on well with handheld Mario Karts. I just prefer to have local multiplayer with my mates face to face rather than doing it over the Internet. The last time we all did this was Double Dash!! on the GC years ago. Even the Wii version was met with a sense of boredom as my girlfriend is gooseberry fool at it, and my mates can't be arsed with a Wii.
MKDS is a big legacy to fulfil. Me and my Mario Kart mates who played this for about 1,000 hours are reuniting for the new games release! Get it right Ninty.
I've not been paying attention - why aren't people looking forward to it? It looks pretty sweet to me.
That and Mario could yet tempt me to get a 3DS.
Many people say the tracks are going to be awful and also the items have ruined the game. I however see it as another brilliant addition to the series. Looks so cool and that video has some of the new characters shown

EDIT: Fireflower and Tanuki tail are a nice addition, they could be pretty awesome.

Except from, y'know, people who have played a Nintendo game this generation. If I decide to get a 3DS, I'll probably pick this up, Mario Kart DS was excellent.
Based on that trailer in the OP it seems the blue shell, although now wing-less, still acts like it does in previous games and isn't a return to the Mario Kart 64 original's blue shell that we had hoped for.
Still seems to fly (as seen in the part of the video with Yoshi hitting the shortcut) and end with an explosion when it reaches the person in first.
And what's going on with Mario having a bunch of powerups orbiting his kart?

Will probably still get the game though.
Probably flies if the person in first is in the air so it can still actually hit them.
The bunch of powerups is the Lucky 7 item. You can throw them all out, but you may accidentally give them a star or something.
Wiggler owns mate.
