We don't know how long the Chief has been out. I really hope it's a long time. I mean he was supposed to be the last Spartan, even though he kind of wasn't if you read the novels. If he froze himself into the future then he could be even more legendary.

It would also give them an excuse to expand the universe, perhaps adding more alien races, both friendly and not so friendly. Given the ending of Halo 3, perhaps John and Cortana are just alone on an alien world / facility.

Oh gooseberry fool, I love the idea of him being far in the future. Earth and the inner colonies could be rebuilding, surviving characters like Lord Hood, Chips Dubbo and Sgt Stacker could all have offspring. The thought of the Human Race being in trouble and the Master Chief returning to save them like some kind of superhero is spectacular.

Also, the UNSC could have forged an alliance with the Elites and some of the other covenant races. We may see a whole range of races in Halo 4. You could have a Human-Covenant Seperatist alliance as one faction. Remenants of the Covenant Loyalists as another. You could have the new primary antagonists as a third, hopefully with a wide range of enemy types to spice then up. On the side, the flood and the Forerunner bots will still be running about.

It's going to be interesting to see what the Trilogy is about. I assume Cortana going rampant will be a big plotline too.

I just hope, that more than anything that we see less human focused world exploration and more of things like The Ark and ring worlds.

At the moment it seems 343 are focusing on the new and improved story and weapons system (of which the new AIM mechanic is only mysteriously alluded to) but there was some video shown that fills in some of the gaps. Halo 4 is set on a Forerunner planet that has an inner and outer surface that provides two distinct styles. The outside is very industrial and features a wide range of hostile Forerunner tech and AI. The video showed space combat here. The inside of the planetoid is hollow and is sectioned off in to many tiers/bands (almost resembling Halo rings) that feature a myriad of natural environments not only resembling earth’s but many other alien terrains. The video featured combat across a multitude of environments from space to mountains, plains and oceans. Presumably, ONI had been top secretly researching the planet for some. There are UNSC forces on the planet but they look really degraded and disorganized and it was implied that they may be divided into factions and warring with each other. At one point we see a heavily modified warthog that has had the wheels replaced two kind of anti gravity devices. At another point the Chief is clearly sprinting which possibly implies a return of armor abilities. There was no sign of the Flood or the Covenant but at the very end of the trailer the ‘dark new threat’ was hinted at. The video ends with the Chief standing at a dark cave entrance and from within can be heard some menacing gurgling and grunting. Cortana says “They’re coming back … and there’s a LOT more of them this time”, the Master chief then readies a new weapon that looks like a cross between a rocket launcher and a Needler and it focuses on his helmet and visor and a number of strange digital effects ripple across his visor then the videos ends.

Nice find, i'm a sucker for good game wallpapers :wub: Maybe it's just me but does anyone else think the logo on the Halo 4 wallpaper doesn't look right, i don't know there's just something about it that looks off. The Anniversary looks cool, but i'm a little surprised they didn't have him posing with the assault rifle on the box art like on the original cover.

Speaking of the Halo remake, do we know what engine it's running on? Some of the levels like 343 Guilty Spark are looking pretty stunning in the remake.

This image, to me, suggests they've found Onyx. Halsey and the other remaining spartans are in there as well as.. well.. who knows?

The fact they introduced Halsey to the games in Reach suggests to me they may be wanting to tie the universe together a bit, so I wouldn't be surprised to see her in H4.

Same, I played through the whole thing on Saturday and didn't notice much motion blur at all.
