I'm seeing lots of comments along the lines of "farewell Ezio, it's been an honour". These are confusing me.

Now I've only played the first two games (picked up Brotherhood for a tenner recently but haven't had a chance to play, and will probably grab Revelations too at some point) but my lasting impression of Ezio was that he was a complete ass hat and I couldn't give two gooseberry fools about anything that happened to him. Does something particularly exciting happened in terms of character development over the last two games or am I just not digging Ezio?

The characters in this were fairly forgettable, with the exception of Sophia. At one point one of your friends dies and I was like "meh" because I woudln't even remember his name. Even the villains in the previous games were better. The Borgias were awesome villains, Cesare as well as his family, whereas I have already forgotten the name of the main guy this one who was really more of a puppet for the Templars anyway.

Assassin's Creed: Revelations will receive new single-player Desmond DLC, alongside a 'Game of the Year' retail release, reports have suggested.

A new batch of Achievements referring to additional Animus-based puzzle sections have been posted by Xbox 360 Achievements.

The DLC is yet to be given a name, release date or price, but the ten additional Achievements are worth 250 points.

A brand new retail release, titled Assassin's Creed: Revelations - Ottoman Edition, has also been discovered.

Briefly posted on the GAME website, the front cover of the Ottoman Edition boasts free downloadable content.

Fellow retailer AMX, meanwhile, lists the game for release on March 16, reports CVG.

Assassin's Creed: Revelations was released last November. The game has been supported with a number of multiplayer DLC packs since its launch.

Assassin's Creed III has been announced by Ubisoft.

The announcement came during a conference call with investors today, during which the game's release date was also revealed for October 30, 2012.

"We will push the title a lot because it's a fantastic product that the team has been working on for three years," Ubisoft president Yves Guillemot told investors. "What we have seen is just fabulous."

The game was announced as Assassin's Creed III, suggesting a new setting and characters, though no details have been revealed at this point. Rumours have suggested the next game in the series could take place in America during The American Revolutionary War.

Guillemot has previously hinted that the next Assassin's Creed title will be the "biggest to date".

Assassin's Creed: Revelations was released last November, building on the story and characters from Assassin's Creed II and Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood.

Assassin's Creed III will arrive on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC on October 30.
