"Assassins, the day you have been waiting for has arrived!!! Click the link below to help reveal an exclusive look at the upcoming Assassin's Creed game!"

A flash file was posted and then removed on the Assassin's Creed Facebook page. It included the Assassin's Creed Revelations logo and "Altair, Son of No One" written in Arabic script. The website now has a full campaign asking users to like the AC Facebook page for sneek peaks of the new game.

"Spread the word to reveal the next Assassin's Creed game."

So far three teaser videos have been released which apparently feature Phaistos Disc of Ancient Crete, a man with Altair's wrist guard, and a Mosque. I loved the mythos created by this series, the conspiracy through time, and being able to travel back to ancient civilisations. I hope this series just grows and grows. This probably won't be titled Assassin's Creed III, which I suspect will be saved for the next gen. But the official title is expected to be revealed in the next issue of US mag Game Informer.

As much as I love the series, do we need one every year?

It surely makes sense for the proper Assassin's Creed 3 to be released in 2012 to coincide with the big in-game Doomsday event.

Why not? A yearly serving didn't do the Tomb Raider or Guitar Hero series any harm....

I've heard that this will feature Altair and be set in the middle East again. Altair's brotherhood if you will.

Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood is still on schedule to release on Nov 16, 2010 in North America and Nov 19, 2010 in the UK. But if the series’ associate producer Jean-Francois Boivin has his way, you won’t be seeing a new Assassin’s Creed game anytime soon after that.

In an interview with Eurogamer, Boivin cites the saturation of sequels for music games as a reason to give the series a breather. “We can see a lot of the music games that are releasing year after year – the interest is a lot less than it used to be. You want to keep people excited. You gotta make people miss it a bit. It’s like, ‘Oh man! I’m so happy it’s back!’ But if you keep force-feeding to people then people are like, ‘Yeah, enough of your Assassin’s Creed,’ says Boivin.

Above: Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood will be releasing this November. But Boivin wants the series to take a 'breather' after that

"If we skip a year, I think we're good. But yeah, I think we could do something really true to the license if we skip a year and release it in 2012 or 2013. We need to keep it fresh though; we need to keep it relatively close by, because we have to keep the interest there. I don't think we do a service to this license if we pull a Duke Nukem on people, you know what I'm saying? It's hard to answer."

We like the way Boivin thinks and like the idea of giving the series some time to ‘breath’ so that the next time a new Assassin’s Creed title is announced, it really means something. That being said, the decision is not completely up to Boivin alone.

“Bottom line, it’s not for me to say. We have some business people that will eventually put a date and say ‘This needs to come out.’ We have our creative people, who are also pushing on their end, saying ‘We need this much time to do something new and refreshing, just scope wise.’ So I don’t know how much time we’ll need,” explains Boivin.

I got the AC II GOTY edition for a tenner a few months ago and I really enjoyed it. I might even pay twelve pounds for Brotherhood.

Geiz ist geil!

Judging by the end of AC2, I imagine there will be more magic space pixies.

Never finished 1, never finished 2, didn't bother with 3. Of what I've played, 2 is really good. Just can't be arsed going back to it.

I agree. Far to many publishers/devs are just happy to keep pumping out the same old games over and again. Still, if people are happy to buy the same old games over and again you can't really blame these companies for cashing in on it.

Another Assassins Creed? Not for me thanks.

If they keep delivering a better/similar quality game than the previous one then... yes.

I'm with you, as good as they are I don't need one every year. If they put it out at a lower price point and I might be convinced but considering how well Brotherhood sold I don't think it's very likely.

I'm glad they're not using numbers for these sequels as I'm assuming that Revelations like Brotherhood will just be expanding on AC2. Best to save the numbers for the proper sequel.

I think game will have you racing all over the world in modern times trying to locate POE while using the Animus to figure out how to get to them. WW2 would be a good time to set the old memories, as it would have the planes needed for that character to have been all around the world but have a decent excuse for Templars being everywhere (who control both the Axis and Allied forces as puppet masters). I suppose that assassin would have to be his grandfather, which would be interesting as they would be able to get clues about what memeries to look for from what the old guy told Desmond as a kid.

2 was fantastic, and Brotherhood somehow improved upon that. I do have my doubts that Ubisoft can keep the series on an upward quality trend with yearly releases, but when no other game plays like it I find it still fairly "fresh" even playing them only a year apart.
