Like you say, those numbers are extremely good for a new I.P. This is my one of my most anticipated games of next year, I really hope it comes out early 2012.

Geoff Keighley guilty of overhyping again  Remedy have had to come out and just clarify that this Alan Wake game really isn't anything like Alan Wake 2 at all. I get the feeling we're going to get a completely different experience to Alan Wake 1 this time round, which is why i think they're so keen to stress that this isn't Alan Wake 2 or anything. As i said before i think we'll get some more experimental gameplay which may be something of a test bed for Alan Wake 2. I do think it'll utilize Kinect in some shape or form as well.

Quote:
Remedy has played down suggestions that the upcoming XBLA Alan Wake game is 'effectively Alan Wake 2'.

Having seen the title's debut trailer ahead of its first public airing this weekend, VGAs event organiser Geoff Keighley told Xbox Live's Major Nelson that the "really ambitious" project "effectively is, I think, Alan Wake 2".
In response, Remedy senior writer Mikko Rautalahti took to the studio's official forums to say that, while he's happy to hear "he's [Keighley] excited about it" and the developer is "proud of the game", the XBLA project is definitely not Alan Wake 2.

"I think that since he invokes the 'Alan Wake 2' name, I should reiterate what we've said all along: this new game is not Alan Wake 2, and if we intended it to be that, we'd have named it that. (I know he means it as a compliment, and I appreciate that, I just don't want there to be any confusion about it.)," reads the post.

Remedy has previously said Alan Wake for XBLA will be "structured like a full release complete with a pretty damn impressive storyline," which explains its eagerness to distinguish the title from a full sequel.

The VGAs will take place on December 10 with Metal Gear Solid: Rising, BioShock Infinite and BioWare's mystery game set to be shown off, among others.

I usually just  when Keighley jumps aboard the hype train. Looking forward to some of the new trailers though and more info on Alan Wake.

I must admit i do like the name American Nightmares :shifty: Also Microsoft confirmed as being the publisher is somewhat interesting because a few months back they were talking as though they wouldn't have any more involvement with the series/somewhat undecided.

Such a cheesy name  Classic Wake. It's American Nightmare (like the American Dream) isn't it? Rather than Nightmares...

Wow teaser trailers really do seem to be getting shorter and shorter everyday  It's hard to take too much from that...because it obviously doesn't show much but...it sort of maybe hints that we'll perhaps be getting an even darker experience. Can't wait for it to be unveiled though. I wonder what timeframe we'll be looking at for it to be released.

I'm really hoping for a Jan/Feb release though how cool would it be if they said "Available on XBLA now", one can dream.

Looks very similar to the first game. Let's just hope there's more variation to the scenery this time around. If he's still under the lake, there's no reason for it to be endless forests, right?

I can't wait, it looks like another dose of tongue-in-cheek, pulpy brilliance. The shot at 18 seconds in with his face overlayed on the pages of the book / manuscript is so funny, and very much in tone with the humour I enjoyed in the original, which most critics, disappointingly, took at face value. Cannot wait for this.

Survival Horror seems to be coming back in a big way in 2012. I can't wait .

Not too long to wait then :D

I liked the trailer, crazy ass story, one or two new characters, new weapons, etc. The core gameplay isn't too bad but they definitely need to mix it up a bit more in American Nightmare. That said i think they would've learned their lesson with Alan Wake and i definitely expect them to iron out one or two of the flaws that the first game had.

Meanwhile, the rumour mill is grinding. Someone's been fiddling with Steam's ClientRegistry.blob file, and found this:
