FAQs:
Will my UMD PSP games work? No, the Vita uses a new card based media for games.
Will my digital PSP games work? Yes and from an OS level you can change the right stick to control camera etc for PSP games.
Will my PSone downloads work? At the moment they are not compatible, this has been promised to be added, but no date has been set.
Is the system region free? You can play a game from any region, but things like DLC are region locked, so if you purchased a game from Japan you wouldn't be able to buy the DLC from the European store with that game card.
Can I use more than one PSN profile on the Vita? No, you have to reset the system to factory settings to add another account. You can back up all your games, saves to your PC and use another account without losing your data.
What size memory cards are available? In Europe we have 4,8 and 16GB cards, but you can import a 32GB from America or Japan.

I was hoping for powerhouse next generation machines and this looks like it will deliver . Now we just have to wait for the price and I have a feeling it's not going to be cheap.

I have no problem paying £300 for this. It will be more than a game console. Going into that iPad space could work to its advantage.
The newly developed and released game content for Android™ based portable devices can also be enjoyed on NGP.
I mean, that's an unbelievably strawberry floating smart move.
It being Sony, they'll probably kill this thing stone-dead with a laughable price tag (they kinda need to come in at 3DS territory or below, but with that spec it would be a hell of a loss-leader), but the NGP itself looks amazing. How close it'll come to PS3 performance (bearing in mind the lower-res screen), though, is still up in the air. "PS3-quality visuals" could be the new "PS2-quality visuals".
Still, I'm pumped. Definitely considering buying one at launch.
Btw, what's the internal RAM? I can't see it on the spec list.
The PSP could play UMD movies and everything, and I used that once (to watch Resident Evil 2 on holiday ). Won't it just be similar to the 3DS where they wang everything possible into a device, while most people won't actually use most of the features?
Yep I'm fine with about £300 as it will me more expensive to manufacture than the 3DS and that's £210. I'm hoping they stay away from the Ipad pricing though as those things cost a flippin fortune and it staggers me people buy it and are not fussed about price. £541 for the 3G version Ipad if the NGP is anywhere near that then I'm not going to be happy.

Yeah, I said that in the other thread.

Not a hope. If it does, I'll eat my own arm. As suzz says, it's almost like a smaller iPad (but with Android content rather than Apple). £300 would be worth it for what it's capable of.

The Playstation suite is currently just the PSone downloads available on the PSN already isn't it? Be interesting to see how many manufacturers end up getting their phones Playstation certified.

Worth it, yes, but I can't see it being a mass-market proposition at a high price. I hope Sony doesn't make the same mistake it did with the PS3. And that released near the end of the boom times, economy-wise.
Can someone distinguish between touch screens and touch pads for me? Both are mentioned, and it looks like the main screen is a full touch screen - is that right?

I don't think it's the ones currently there, but new ports. Which means the ones you've already bought probably need to be repurchased as an "Android version".
It's interesting that they didn't talk about media capabilities, or storage. This is a game machine first and foremost.
