Me tooo!! I found Fallout 3 a little bit depressing because everything was so brown. Skyrim reminds me a bit of New Zealand only bit colder.
They are both awesome games though.

Yeah that is the one bit that turned me off. The brown colour, the depressing music , the over powered monsters early in the game.

The one thing that annoyed me was in Fallout 3 there were hundreds of buildings scattered around, and only a select few that could actually be entered.

I'm with Dblock, I just didnt 'get' fallout, all too brown and shooting a shotgun at point blank and missing your target just seemed a step to far.

Never had a problem with Fallout 3 myself. I played it to the end, I thoroughly enjoyed it. But I don't miss it and how no inclination to return to it. Skyrim on the other hand......

Seems I've hit my second glitch. Trying to 'Regain the Pale', but I can't find Legate Rikke anywhere. Been to both Imperial camps on the Pale, and Dawnstar, and Castle Dour in Solitude, and she's nowhere to be found. I need to talk to her to initiate the quest. strawberry float.

Probably stating the obvious, but have you tried looking in the tents at the Pale Imperial camp? She'll be standing in the tent with the table that has the map on it. If she's there you may also have to start the conversation a couple of times with her before the "Reporting for duty" option appears. Hope that helps.

I did look there yeah, but there was nobody there. Will look again though just to make sure. I've read something about examining the cooking pot at the camp :? so I might try that as well. Cheers Preezy.

Holy hell, gone exploring in the top of the map, left of the College. I found an island with a tomb, and I can see the logo for a shipwreck, but it seems to be in the water, I jumped in, realised I couldn't even see the bottom of the water and leaped out again, totally gooseberry fool myself for some reason.

strawberry float. That.

It looks like a good place for the huge underwater Shadow of the Collosus style monster to loom out of the darkness and kill me, feel like I have a watery case of vertigo

Also, I know the Thalmor are absolute dicks, but they look so ridiculously cool. :x

Sorted. Did a few other quests (another of which was glitched, but I managed to use Unrelenting Force to shout the guy into position when he refused to move  ) and when I next went to the camp Rikke was there. Phew.

How bloody amazing is this game? I just decided to roam about a bit before going back to turn in a quest at Solitude and I'm now closer to Markath than Solitude.

Found this keep (Harmugstahl) and was quite creepy inside - it's always creepier when you haven't been sent there and you're just exploring, isn't it? Some mage was experimenting on frostbite spiders. *shudder*

And then after finishing that and coming out, I spotted some ruins, not marked on the map and ran over to them. There was a book called Withershins on it and it's a really funny read.

Only problem is, when I'm out exploring, there's map markers in all directions and I obviously can't go in every direction at once so there's loads I've missed. How I'm going to get them all, I have no idea.

Seriously doubting my vote for Arkham City in the BAFTA Game award, now.

I've started walking everywhere rather than fast traveling and it's made it much more enjoyable again. Discovering so many places I hadn't come across before.

Feel like I'm coming towards the end of the two main quest lines, but there are still so many places I haven't been to, both towns and dungeons, and whole areas of the map that I haven't even touched after 70 hours+. Crazy.

I can't imagine how complicated it was to make this game.

I love finding Orc strongholds, but it's always disappointing when they don't give you a quest.

I honestly don't know how anyone would do that, I've probably played about 80 hours of Fallout 3 and never encountered it.

Orc's are racists i'm guessing, i'm an Orc and when i go to the strong holds i usually get offered quests...

and my Orc is a racist, i kill dark elves for no other reason other than they are dark elves.

Well, I finally joined a side in the war with my level 35 elf..

I actually decided joining the Stormcloaks felt like the right thing to do. I'd recently done that quest infiltrating the Thalmor embassy, and as much as I *really* didn't want to attack Whiterun, I decided there's some good in allowing residents of Skyrim to worship who they please. I've come across (and dealt with) a few Thalmor groups escorting prisoners, and I decided I couldn't side with them. Plus the Legion were going to kill me at the start.

But yeah, actually doing the attack was really unenjoyable, just because I felt horrible attacking those guards, it was very easy, but it made me feel like such a terrible person, I don't want to kill the guards  (I just want to kill the Thalmor!)

Foolish girl, do you think the Thalmor will let them worship whatever they want when they rule all of Tamriel?

The true Sons and Daughters of Skyrim fight for the Empire.

Also you should speak to the Jarl of Solitude. Her husband's reason for not revolting are actually very, very good.

Have you done the story quest where you go into the Thalmor embassy?

They have a dossier on Ulfric. He doesn't know it, but they consider him to be an asset. They essentially want to destabilise the Empire so they can attack.
Banning Talos worship, demanding the heads of the Blades, forcing the Empire to pull out of Hammerfell - all outrageous things the Empire did at the behest of the Thalmor to obtain peace, with no real goal other than destabilising the Empire so they could attack once it's weakened.

They are tossers and it sucks that you have to put down so many patriotic Nords, but a lot of them are racists and bigots anyway. Go to Windhelm and you'll see what they're really like.

Oh and to make you feel extra bad they're going to make life hell for the Dark Elves, if not outright exile/kill them.

Also the Jarl of Solitude says:
-The Empire did a lot for Skyrim.
-There are a lot of Nords in the Imperial Legion.
-The Empire is Talos' Empire - he was Martin Septim, after all.
