Made the Daedric stuff this morning (armour, bow and battleaxe -gave my old Ebony gear and Wuuthrad to Lydia), improved it all to Legendary quality. The armour set is as OP defensively speaking as sneak+archery is offensively: Walked into a Stormcloak occupied fort, was surrounded by enemies yet was never in danger of dying (I lost health but at a very slow rate -I should mention I've put quite a number of points in Heavy Armour) and so took my time going about butchering them all.

RIP in peace Ulfric. He wanted to die at my hands, I didn't give him the satisfaction.

For strawberry floats sake. I think my save game has corrupted. It just displays the loading screen for ages, then the music stops and it just sits there loading. The screen is still....moving (with the 3d model and the changing text) but nothing seems to be happening.

95 hours.

:(

Edit: Sweet mercy of Talos, it lives again!

Finally quashed the cursed Stormcloack rebellion. I put down Ulfrich like the dog that he is. No mercy for traitors of the Empire. 8-)

Now, what else is there for me to do.....might actually start the main quest now, almost 100 hours in

Oh no I've got far enough into the main story to see dragons, killed a fair few but not actually kept going with the main quest.

That's okay then. I assumed you hadn't started it at all!

All versions?

Haven't touched the game in a month, just lost interest. I think what killed it for me was how terribly written and stilted it was. I spent hours upon hours wandering the world, basking in the scenery, the music and the random events that would pop up. But then I'd reach a city and the game just froze (metaphorically). Nothing seems to happen without your involvement, everyone is more than happy to wander around their preset walking cycle for eternity until you offer to deliver something for them. This wouldn't be that much of a problem, but the quest log is so unnecessarily bloated with trivial bullshit that shouldn't be there in the first place, it serves only to bolster claims of 'near-infinite amount of quests' when in actuality a large majority of them are tedious at best. There's enough good ideas found in the Thieves Guild, Dark Brotherhood, Civil War, Companions, Mages College and main storyline to fill a fantastic videogame, but it's all spread thin across countless more fetch quests that have no need to exist. The worst was early on in the game, that bitch in Whiterun asking me to deliver a sword to the castle. Yep, because she's so busy leaning against that wooden post for the last four hours, she just can't find the time to walk somewhere that's five minutes away at most.

I almost feel guilty for complaining about the game, as I've undoubtedly gotten more hours out of it than any other game for many years, but it was rarely fulfilling. Caves and dungeons also fell victim to repetition, it was especially frustrating when I'd find the locked door near the beginning of a dungeon, knowing that I'd have to go the looooooooooooong way around to the destination, only to then unlock that door so I could get out quicker. strawberry float you Bethesda. :|

It's a crying shame, all that immersion and joy gained from the world is crushed under the weight of unmemorable characters (apart from Cicero  ), the dead air that permeated anything resembling a cutscene, strawberry floating graphical inclusions ripped from the 1990's (really, people disappear when entering doors? The hilarious blood in the bowl moment from the Companions questline?), increasingly poor writing that does a great disservice to some potentially involving lore. For all it does well it does some other things woefully.

I'd likely trade it in. But then I'd feel guilty as it was my SS present from Joer, and that makes me look ungrateful.

Because of the way the game is built, I can understand a lot of the fetch quests- they often send you somewhere to trigger off more (and usually more important) quests.

Why are HMV offering £35 for a second hand game?

They sell it brand new for £37 and it's being sold for £32 brand new in multiple places online. :?

Still plugging away with this. Just about to visit Windhelm for the first time.

About 60/65 hours in I think. Probably going to focus more on the main quest now and get it done, then go back to other bits if I have the inclination, and maybe get some more achievements.

I went home and tried playing this on our 42" plasma in 720p and it just looked awful. Looks fantastic in 1080p.

Just started playing again. Been reluctant. Sure enough I was tramping around trying to decide what to do. Decided to march on a Barrow and just before I got there got attacked by a Dragon and now I feel like I'm right back into it.

Oh Skyrim, how could I have ever left you.
