Just started playing this last night and am up to chapter 7.

The graphics are absolutely stunning, as is the script, but it's just missing something for me so far. The gun battles aren't feeling very satisfying (don't seem as tight as in the second game, but perhaps that's just rose-tinted glasses, and I've already switched to the alternative control method), often taking loads of shots to actually hit enemies as they're belting between cover. Perhaps it's just me, but not fond of the combat so far- there was one section early on when I was spotted, triggering a load of guys to teleport in behind me when there was only a wall there, so that definitely broke the immersion.

In between the shooting, it just seems a bit non-interactive- all you really do is press x to jump between obvious points whilst moving the pad in the right direction, and the game takes care of itself. Sometimes you can survive fairly long falls, but if you go somewhere the game doesn't want you to, you die automatically.

Just seems all gloss but no real substance. I feel like they perfected what they had with 2, but that they really needed to bring something extra into the game with this second sequel. However, so far it's pretty much the same game with a different plot and levels, more like an add-on pack that a full-blown sequel.

Those are my initial impressions- does it get significantly better? The story is compelling enough to make me want to press on, but I'm a bit let down, even considering the lukewarm reception it received by quite a few compared to Among Thieves.

aaaaand done.

Jesus that felt shorter then the previous games. Even the whole story seemed to get wrapped up very quick, and I didn't even get to slap a bullet in Marlowe's wringly face.

As with the other two Uncharted games I enjoyed pretty much every moment of it, although I wouldn't say this entry was the best in the series as Uncharted 2 seemed to have a far better structure (the whole story in 3 seemed abit of an afterthought, although I did like the flashbacks and the relationship with sully)

Overall, great to have played through another Uncharted game and I can't see it being beaten for presentation this generation. (ooh rhyme)

Completed this the other day, largely enjoyed it but left a bit underwhelmed at times.

The story seemed like much more of an afterthought than previous Uncharted games and made even less sense and jumped all over the place, some things just really didn't fit in with each other. Had some lovely touches like the Sully/Drake back story but other parts were poor.

Gameplay wise I thought the puzzles were pretty atrocious and that too much of the game felt like an interactive cut-scene, I felt like I was actually playing less of it than the previous Uncharted games and those parts you were pulled along by the hand. As much as they tried to make the game into a more immersive entertainment experience, certain things totally pulled that away. How ridiculous certain set pieces were for one, the ridiculous amounts of overpowered enemies who would appear in certain stages and the way drake could easily jump/fall silly distances when it suited the game, but fail on smaller ones when it didn't. The difficulty spikes that just made certain areas frustrating is not exactly new to uncharted, but the smarter enemies made it more difficult and I found it immensely frustrating at times.

The weakest in the series for me, but still one of the better games of its generation in all fairness!

You think it is worse than 1? Interesting.

To be fair, I haven't played 1 in quite some time, so it may be a slightly rose tinted perspective, 2 on the otherhand I replayed in the last 12 months and I can say without any doubt in my mind that it's the superior game.

I think 2 is still the best. I think it had a slighty better story than 3.
Also I didn't like the childhood bits, I think they were a bit too long.

There were so many plot holes I thought, so much I only found out reading on websites, and some stuff still no answered.

How or why did Talbot survive being shot by Cutter?
Just why are these super big and aggressive spiders in 2 separate locations? What's the link?!

That's not including ones I've looked up the answers too elsewhere. :fp:

It's a better game than 2, but 2 had a story that flowed a lot lot better. 2 also had more  moments.

No  moment in any of the other games can possibly even compare to the the moment in Uncharted 3 where,

MAJOR SPOILER IF YOU HAVEN'T PLAYED RIGHT TO THE END
Sully appears to have been killed.    Was so so happy that it was a hallucination.

Sully

I can barely remember anything about uncharted 3 apart from the main set pieces. :?

From memory though:

Uncharted 2>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Uncharted 3> Uncharted.

Re Talbot.

Talbot and his employer, Marlowe is a part of a secret society group which use power and trickery. It is kinda related to the other things, like Talbot seem to disappear at will, handing Cutter the card which foretells Cutter's fate, and the hallunication darts. You are tricked into thinking that Talbot are supernatural. That's what I think.

A recent move I've had no internet for nearly two weeks (I'm currently using a 3G dongle to sate my internet fix.) So it's given me the time to finish Uncharted 3.

Story
U3 is a series of events that take you from one location to another, U2 had the same and the cast's back-stories entwined with it which made the adventure feel more rounded. A big part of this series is the characters so I would have liked to see more character development, instead we see everyone just interacting. Although both Chloe and Elena point out a character flaw in Drake that I'm sure will be a major issue in a future game.

Action
Remembering that this is a game I have to say that some of the levels were so good to play, atmospheric and technically astounding. Like escaping from the fire in the French Château and especially the sinking cruise liner, and all that water. It drew me right into the game.

So more of the same, in a good way, but delivered excellently.

*And I found 69 trophies without using a help guide.
