I think it's okay. It's tough in places - very difficult and failing is a regular occurrence on some of the hellishly tricky later courses, but I like the general flow of the game, the online stuff is great (and a great way to earns tons of cash). It's like they've introduced an RPG-lite elements with all the gear and mods.

Overall, not bad at all. Not perfect, but occasionally madbonkers fun.

Can you turn all this gooseberry fool off outside of world tour and just race?

Online and in explore you can do whatever you like. Online I've been doing mostly trick events with a few survival ones. I suck at races currently.

I understand why they made some of the survival tracks hard, if not some of the scores online would just be unbeatable and it'd put people off of even trying.

If only they would pull the camera up so you could see over jumps and small hills. Would make this game 10x less frustrating. I guess it's kind of like wipeout though. If you don't know the track you're going to crash a lot

This game has some strawberry floating killer music

Jedi, add me? (I'm on the list)

I got a Diamond on a trick run earlier :D

Scored my first Diamond on a Survive event yesterday. Pleased to see it still held up by the time I got in from work. A nice little payday.
Those people giving up on this quickly I recommend putting more time in. I know I seem to have become 'loved up' with this, but I freely admit that it can be frustrating on some of the courses to lose progress from falling out of the level. And the Oxygen and Sunlight levels are gooseberry fool.
BUT there are sooo many runs that allow to to forget about random crevices and just trick away. I'd even argue that the runs with a lot of crevices are there to test you once you become more skilled and can be bothered to learn the layout.
I did the achievement last night where you have to complete the Sonar Goggles Deadly Descent without the goggles. Thing is, you have to beat Griff's ghost too (I think) so it's blind AND quick. I did it though, so it shows you just need to remember some key areas of the run and you'll be fine.
The multiplayer is so well implemented and compulsive that I honestly think anyone who bought this should allow at least a week or two of play before trading.

I pretty much agree with everything you said.
There's loads of Variety in this game.
You can just do whatever events you want.

And yeah it can be frustrating But when you learn the tracks it stops becoming so. A good thing to do is just do one shitty run so you can explore the track, then do a second one where you actually go all out.

Also can I just say, this never gets old. EVER

Some tips
Try and do a combo the whole way down

Only do front flips

Only do one trick per jump, hold it for as long as possible. Or one trick per grind (don't forget to spin it)

DO tricks on tiny jumps at the start to get tricky as soon as possible

remember you can jump off of everything, so if it looks slanted, aim at it old x and boost and launch yourself off of it.

Something I do to keep a combo going, hold a manual for a few seconds while you aim yourself at a jump. Then hold x and boost at it, it'll give you enough time to jump so your combo wont run out if you're reasonably close.

Make sure you're using equipment that has a good trick stat

Maybe this will help:

I got a suit that has big hands and head with Kaori

No probs. And for races stay on the ground as much as you can, only go into the air to get boost, and when you do only do it on large drops so you can try and get infinite boost for a while. That's what I do anyways. But I still only barely beat the computer.

Im absolutely loving this, yeah it feels alot easier and forgiving than Tricky, but it feels like old ssx, and the online is amazing. Turning the game on to find your mate trashed your high score and youve netted a few hundred thousand credits for a high score run is immensely satisfying.

Anyone on 360 wants to add me, its CaptCalcium. Need more people on it.

Have you ever played Tony Hawks and "got" the combo system, perfecting your run, learning each part of a level to maximise points, and competing scores with friends?

Ssx scratches that same itch. It also, strangely, reminds me of Guitar Hero, not in mechanics or execution, but in chasing the best possible score in each track, and comparing with friends. Hugely addictive.

Really not sure what to think of this. SSX3 was one of my favourite games ever, and this seems to remove a lot of what made the previous games so fun to me.

When it gets going, it's great, don't get me wrong. A few things which get on my tits though;

- The character designs suck balls. No variety whatsoever, and many of the fun characters are gone. Viggo & Allegra
- Rather than using money to customize tricks and pool into the overall improvement of your player, you have to buy EQUIPMENT. Bringing in this element of RPG-ness kills it for me. Clothes are to make you look cool/silly, stat points are what makes you better.
- Sort of an extension of the previous point, but so far every new location I visit I have to play as a different character. Does this change later on? I really liked sticking with one person and customizing them.
- The way the tricky song comes in any time you get supertricky is massively annoying and completely ruins any groove I had going with the soundtrack and gameplay mixing together.
- Locking all the different gooseberry fool up until I buy the right equipment. Sigh. What's the point of equipment if I'm FORCED to use a certain piece? Can I not customize to suit my own preferences?
- Deadly descents. They promote slow and steady gameplay, over high speed stuff. Also the idea of having a health pool and being able to die is totally contrary to the SSX series as a whole. We don't want to go up against the mountain in a MAN VS NATURE FIGHT, We love the mountain and want to make sweet sweet geographical love to it.

Also real life places are gooseberry fool level design. More silly tracks please.

You can turn the tricky music off, try looking in the menu?
If you want to stick with one person, play explore or online. World Tour is like a story/tutorial mode.

I agree about the descents. I actually enjoy the air glider ones, and the ones where you have to dodge rocks, avalanches or trees though. They're fast and fun, and I feel like a badass when I weve in and of of tree stumps 8-). But the ones where you can't see anything, and have to use trial and error to win can suck my balls.

BTW Quick tip, if you fail a Descent 3 times it gives you the option to skip it. Saved me a broken controller on the levels where you're strawberry floating blind.
