Those were solutions considered by Monday Night Combat, though they stated the speed at which one can do things was the difference they had to consider when balancing on PC. Seriously, if you haven't done so, take the time to read the link I posted above. It's by far the most illuminating thing i've read on the subject.

Just read the article.

Very interesting, the thing that stands out for me is that its kind of obvious isn't it? It's just lazy to leave the assists that are there to help console players when porting to the PC, you would hope DICE of all developers would recognise this.

No reason why it won't come with the 360/PS3 versions too. That image was leaked, not officially released.

Is PC actually going to be the lead platform? If it isn't. Count me out.

See, I never played BF2 so what differentiates this from Bad Company? Are we expected to see bigger maps? Different classes? Different Modes?

I'd like to know this myself, I did play BF2 but can't really remember it.

Some of the BC2 are massive and I'm not sure what you would gain by making them bigger.

The maps in Battlefield 2 were much bigger than Bad Company 2's, therefore there was more players (64) and the squads were larger (6), with a squad leader that would forward on mission objectives from the Commander. The Commander was a player that would hang back in the base and sometimes fight (but this would be frowned upon). The Commander would issue objectives and deploy airstrikes and supply drops.

There were more also more armies featured and therefore there was a bigger selection of weapons. There were also more classes (Assault, Engineer, Medic, Spec Ops, Sniper, Support and Anti-Tank), but they were merged together for Battlefield 2142 and the Bad Company games.

Conquest was also the only game mode, I think. I'm not sure if another got added, it's been a long time since I last played.

It's hard to tell what Battlefield 3 will be like, but I'm hoping it's bigger and better than Battlefield 2 and not just Battlefield: Bad Company 2 v1.2.

Edit: And of all the maps they had to remake: Bloody Karkand! :fp:

I'm not sure the maps in Battlefield 2 were actually really that much bigger than the ones in Bad Company...I mean there are some really big maps in BC and BC2.

I guess BC had some more medium sized maps where Battlefield 2 was just the bigger ones.

The real difference with Bad Company was the SP and less serious focus. I expect Battlefield 2 will drop the jokey side.

I think it depends on which Battlefield 2 maps you played, you could choose whether you wanted to play on the 16/32/64 player versions of each map. I mostly stuck to 64. :)

BF2.

Battlefield Vietnam. You look at the map and how long he can fly for without getting to the edge of the map. Yeah, that's why BC2 maps are small. Less points to capture, less types of vehicles and a lack of jets/boats/water vehicles in general makes BC2 multiplayer maps a total joke.

Yeah, you can use a jetski, which is terrible. You've also got stuff like in 1943 where you'd have proper gunboats and everything. Battlefield has turned into a laughing stock of what it once was. This is coming from someone who really likes BC2.

The maps feel bigger in bc and bc2 because the FOV is so bad I think.

Raping people as they spawn instead of shooting down the helicopter. Classy BF2 pilot right there.

One of the main reasons BF2 was better (and I'm talking in design, not "because it was on PC" type stuff) was the big maps. BC2 maps are nothing compared to some of them. You could go around capping points without encountering resistance, even on a 50 player server, until the commander or a squad got wise to you and came to end you. But even then it was cool because the squad system was better, you could only spawn off the leader, which meant you had to protect him to keep a force in the area. Then when you did get finished it was a proper trek to get back. In BC2 you drive/fly out of spawn and fairly quickly you're into the action. In BF2 you could drive for a fair while only watching the battle in the distance.

Fair enough Harvest Day and Heavy Metal are big, but they are totally featureless between the points, and the points are arranged in a line which makes it quite dull. BF2's tonne of classes was far superior too. The medic and support were properly essential. And to get really good assault weapons you had to sacrifice those abilities.

Battlefield 2 wasn't without problems mind you. The spawn raping was bad at times, it was buggy and didn't perform too well. But things like the sniping never caused that many problems because it actually took a good bit of skill.
