Err, no, sorry, it is not. I played this last evening. It is good but not nearly good enough to warrant £10. Time for money that's probably one of the most expensive games I have ever bought. It took me about and hour and a half to finish, which would have been too much even if it was the best gaming experience of my life and it was not.

You wouldn't pay ten pounds for the best gaming experience of your life? :fp: Jesus, no wonder the industry's in trouble.

Not if it only lasted an hour and a half, no. Similairly, I wouldn't pay out for the best tasting meal in the world if I was still going to be hungry afterwards. Not that is has anythign to do with the topic because Journey is not such a game.

Anyway, to summarise; lovely game, not worth the price. At £6 I'd probably be urging everyone to buy it though, so I would advise people to perhaps lay off for a while and try it out when it comes down in price a bit. One of the good things about it being so short is that you can play it whenever you want anyway.

*waits to be lambasted because I dare have a different opinion* Ah, GRcade.

Not the same thing.

You wouldn't pay out for the best tasting meal in the world if you could clear your plate really quickly, would be more accurate.

It doesn't have any replay value though, at least no immediately as there is no highscore or whatever. You may come back to it in a few months to experience things again but it's something you are going to play over and over again like a lot of other short games.

I will happily spend a couple of hundred quid on a good meal :shifty:

It's definitely the best game of the year so far in terms of the "experience" and all that.

Completed Journey yesterday and while it has some interesting aspects it kinda feels like a tech demo at times. Hopefully they can use some of the cool things in this for the basis of their next game as Thatgamecompany definitely have some good ideas.

I can see why some people are raving about it but I'd probably recommend my friends to pick it up in a sale as it's still worth a purchase. Meep also has a point about it being too expensive/no replay value but I suppose it all comes down to how much money you have to spend and if this kind of game suits your taste.

That 40% of its current value, the equivalent to a game at £40 and a game at £24. Not exactly quibbling. You shouldn't lose all perspective of what you are paying for just because you are dealing in smaller amounts, if so you must go through life being completely careless with how you spend money. That's nice if you are rich enough to do that but most people are not. Normal people can't afford to go around perpetually ignoring such amounts or else they mount up into much bigger amounts over time.

Anyway, something like this? It's a fun and quite engaging piece of interactive art but it's not groundshaking by any means.

If you played through the entire thing from start to finish and the first thought that sprung to your mind was "Well, is it worth £6, £8, or £10?" then you have lost all sense of perspective and joy in life and you should probably just kill yourself.

Christ on a bike, Meep, it's only a tenner. The way you're going on is like you've spent your last 10 pound and can no longer afford food, or something.

It's just a bloody videogame. I'm supposed to be the one who has lost all perspective in life? When a I completed I though "that was good, but I was expecting more". I probably would have enjoyed it more had I paid less as the experience would not have been coloured by high expectations and disapointment when those expectations were not fufilled. TBH, that's my main problem with the price. Spending 10 quid on it has not exactly made me bankrupt, however it has led to me being disapointed by the game.

Meep,

You're in KFC ordering some chicken, when the guy behind the counter says "Buy this chicken burger for £10, or we'll kill more chickens than we should and charge the guy behind you £15 for the same burger."

What would you do?

Meep made a fair point, I can see how the price might be an important factor for a lot of people combined with other aspects about the game. It all comes down to how you interpret value and clearly it's different for a lot of people.

I'd say "No thank you, I'm vegetarian. I don't know why I was ordering chicken, must have been a narrative error due to lack of detail" and then go get a sandwich or something.
