Started this and played for 3 and a half hours. Really enjoying it, what a nice special edition. The music is fantastic, looking forward to listening to the cd.

Loving the whole feel of the game, quite FF12ish. Graphics are a little disappointing but art style makes up for it. Using HD tv and component cable, I take it the HDTV setting is the best for Wii?

Not really many negatives apart from those bizarre English accents, getting used to them now though.

Mine arrived too later in the day when I was away. Must have been second post. They packed it well so no damage :)

Yeah, my Wii doesn't read this game disc anymore. Is this game on a dual layer disc? I remember having a few problems with getting my console to recognize Xenoblade last year and that was a dual layer. I'll have to do some further tests.

Got this console at launch, I'm a bit sad that it seems to have died.

Mine seems to be doing that too :(

EDIT: I can get it to read if I go to a different Wii channel sometimes but as you said It also started with Xenoblade for me.
which means...

Xenoblade was slowly killing my Wii.

Still WiiU should be out this year (hopefully) So I shouldn't have to worry about sorting a replacement

You might want to try this as it could just be a dirty lens- http://www.amazon.co.uk/Nintendo-RVLALS ... B001GZT1UI

I couldnt get Xenoblade to work at all and I'd had trouble before with some of the dual layer discs (Smash Bros. mainly). This solved it. Piece of piss to do as well. Soooo glad I did. Xenoblade

emulation and/or hackery?

You can bypass the drive entirely with the Homebrew Channel launcher, and run games from a hard drive. (I'm not sure how well the Homebrew launcher would fare with relatively recent releases like Xenoblade or Last Story).

Failing that, you could run the game on a PC with Dolphin?

There is also another, relatively cheap, option: Most second-hand stores should have a substantial quantity of pre-owned Wiis.

Played the first six hours. It's not a bad game but I haven't been sucked in at all and I don't think much of the acting.

I'll keep playing as the battle system is interesting enough and the soundtrack is quality, but at this point I think I prefer the LE to the game itself. :shifty:

I quite like the VA personally. With perhaps the exception of Zael and the seemingly redundant narrator. The British voices really suit the game, and give it an earthy feel, whereas in Xenoblade they felt a little out of place to me, it's otherworldly. Although to be fair I didn't give Xenoblade long before switching to the Japanese language track.

The mechanics have been my highlight so far. At first it felt so limited, but they seem to keep expanding the system at a perfect pace, and I'm finding it very rewarding at the moment. There's been a good pace to the story, nice brisk chapters (I'm hoping there are a hell of a lot of them), although I'm not far enough into it yet to see the bigger picture (there has to be a world threatening catastrophe sooner or later right? It's a JRPG!).

There are 44 I think, with the last few being an epilogue.

Bit disappointing since I'm on about 26/27 already :/ Hoping the remaining ones are a lot longer than the previous.

The battle system makes me think they've tried to add something like part of the Gears of War system to it what with it's numerous waist-high pieces of scenery all over the place.

Must confess, I'm on maybe chapter 15/16? just fought some giant tiger or something in the enemy base and headed back to the town, and I am still not really feeling this at all. The plot idea is kinda interesting but it's still not been explored nearly enough.

I end up playing an hour a night before I get bored and want to do something else. :?

Seems a really odd mess of a game to me.

That was my opinion of it, the last time I got it to play on my Wii.

I would have liked more time with it though, to see if it improves. But I'm gonna have to shelve the game for the time being.

I've got Dolphin mainly for Skies but it's not brilliant, If I try anything other than native res it slows to a crawl

I've thought about HBC but I have the latest FW so i'm not sure if the know exploits work

Erm, yeah, the waist high bits of scenery are there so you can indeed take cover behind them, giving you protection but more importantly allowing you to execute slash attacks once you've disappeared from enemy sight. Haven't you been doing that?

I thought the plot's been pretty good so far, keeps the game moving at a fair old pace with extra stuff available in places like the Castle Library- Chapter 9ish spoiler I actually read about the Gurak and their banishment before they attacked the castle, which pretty cool, extra background if you wanted it, or not if you just wanted to fight

Well yes of course I've been doing that. I was just making note of the fact it feels a bit like Gears of War what with all those convenient pieces of scenery everywhere.

Nowhere near the levels of Xenoblade's awesomeness
