THE 'GRCADE GAMES GURU COMPETITION IX' GRAND FINAL

I'm probably waxing lyrical here - but I like to think this little competition has one hell of a legacy. In the not-so-distant future, we will reach the tenth year of our searches for Games Gurus, and I am very proud for all those people who have utilised the contest to find confidence before finding careers, the wonderful champions that have passed through the game, and the many great characters who have chanced their luck.

This year the contest has been no less fierce. Unkind to those having a slow start, cruel to former champions falling into the pits of oblivion, harsh to those who found they had glaring weaknesses.

Tonight we don't exactly have a bevvy of adjusted finalists. An advert for gaming on large it is not! We have a raving Japanophile, a guy who goes out to parties dressed as Luigi, Britain's Worst Teenager and worst of all....A COVENTRY FAN. Jeez.

Nonetheless these four warriors of gaming have battled their way past 21 others, in teams and on their own - to reach the final test - the GRCade Games Guru Competiton IX Grand Final! Tonight they undergo one last challenge LIVE for your amusement for the chance to become this years champion - and the eighth Games Guru!

STAYDEAD. DARK RITUAL. DALAGONASH. TRAGIC MAGIC.

Tonight - one of them takes the title for their own.

Can I have confirmation that all our finalists are here?

The GRCade Games Guru Competition IX GRAND FINAL - 'THE BANK JOB'

This year - the Games Guru will be chosen by your ability to escape the GRCade Vault with as many 'Guru' pounds as you can - how long will you stay in the vault to try and gain cash - whilst risking being locked in - and locked out of the title challenge?

The Grand Final will take part in two stages - the first part will see all four contestants go head to head - and the second part will see the two highest scoring contestants fight it out for the title. As this is the Grand Final - quickfire gaming knowledge is the aim of the game.

In the Guru Vault are twenty-five numbered safety deposit boxes, all numbered 1 - 25. In some of these boxes are bundles of cash - a total of £170,000 in all the boxes. It is up to the contestants to make as much cash as possible and escape the Vault BEFORE time tuns out. Once a player has left the Vault they cannot answer anymore questions, and their amount is locked down.

I will ask a gaming knowledge question, and all contestants must PM me the answer as quickly as possible. The fastest correct answer will get the chance to open a box. When answering - all contestants must also include a numbered box they wish to open if they are correct....for instance 'Metroid II - 23' or 'Bubsy The Bobcat - 9'. I will then say who got the question right first and open that box.

In the boxes are the following items.

:arrow: Bundles of Cash. These amount to £170,000 in total, and once a contestant finds a bundle, he can decide whether to leave with that money. Contestants can only leave after a correct answer in the fastest time. Contestants may stay to find as many bundles as possible.

:arrow: STEAL - In two boxes there are steals which will instantly transport the highest bundle of money elsewhere in the vault into your box. Contestant may then choose to stay or leave.

:arrow: Individual Keycards. All contestants have one Keycard made for them in a box. So there is a 'Dalagonash KeyCard', 'Tragic Magic KeyCard' etc. If a contestant finds their own KeyCard - they are THROUGH to the final two REGARDLESS of cash. If anyone ELSE finds their KeyCard - it is destroyed - but the contestant gains £0. A contestant may not choose to leave after finding a KeyCard other then their own.

:arrow: BANKRUPT - The Bankrupt is in only one box, and will instantly reduce anyones cash total to zero. A contestant may not leave after finding the Bankrupt.

:arrow: THE DML TWIST - The twist is in one box, and for the contestant who finds it will ask them to make a pre-locked in choice that could potentially be a game-changer. This twist will not involved eliminating or gaining new contestants in the final however. After the Twist - the contestant may choose to leave the Vault.

The important thing to note is that I will only ask 15 QUESTIONS Once these have run out - the Vault is LOCKED - so contestants MUST escape before the end of the 15th question. Contestants may only choose to leave after getting a question right in the quickest time - and the TWO players with the highest amount of cash will play off for the title.

In the scenario that only ONE person escapes the Vault with money - THEY will be crowned Games Guru IMMEDIATELY. If NO-ONE escapes - the amount of correct answers will decide who makes the final two.

All contents of the Vaults has been decided at random and is independantly checked.
