Mods aren't supposed to edit content unless it contravenes the rules. So according to that Mafro overstepped the mark. StayDead is the author of the thread, if people have a problem with that there's nothing to stop them from creating another one or convincing him to change it.

Those are posting guidelines not rules, the rules are what are actually under warnings, bannings etc. It does say "observe the following posting guidelines".

We've usually been pretty laid back with moderation but if everyone is going to get arsey about total mod consistency, equal treatment (look, him too! He started it! Mlehmleh..) and 100% according to rules (even when it's bloody obvious someone is just taking the piss pretty much every time we take action) then that's going to have to change. You can't have both this flexibility and tolerance for different people's character (eg whether or not they actually meant harm) and banter etc while demanding stricter adherence to rules by mods as well, who are really just doing their jobs while those complaining are usually just jackass upstarts that know and admit that.

Most of this is superfluous bollocks that isn't important. Stay out of each others way and don't be a dick for fun and you won't get banned, I don't see why anything should be more complicated than that. Hell I don't really get why people complain so much when they are banned for breaking the rules one way or another, as if they've earnt the right to or deserve to just keep going simply because they've mastered getting away with it for so song. Just deal with it and move on, we're far less strict than other gaming forums.

Consider that my opinion, but you may notice it won't affect policy, since I'm not an impressionable idiot including unto myself. That's not how you do this job.

I think that any threads that have vague or non-representative titles should be immediately renamed or locked. The title is there to tell people what the thread is about. If you create a thread that requires someone to click on it in order to see what it's about, you're a fuckwit.

As for the general discontent with the mods, it's more due to indivudal mods overreacting to small stuff. For example, Zeni's ban was pretty much one mod acting on his own, while this is due to Mafro whinging over a thread title (a good two weeks after the title in question was made, and continuing a long tradition of silly thread titles for the TCRT, PCGT and PCMT) when everyone was using the Battlefield 3 thread (or Battlelog, or Mumble) for setting up multiplayer PC games instead of the thread in question. Sure, StayDead over-reacted, but it doesn't mean he isn't wrong.
