The Interesting Thread

People should be able to spend what they want whether it be less or more. I got a decent wage so was able to afford a little more. Next year may be totally different. No one should be mocked for sending something - it really is the thought that counts. I didn't buy the Snes as some sort of self aggrandizing thing and i certainly didnt do it to make other people feel bad or less generous. I did it because it made me feel good and seeing SD's reaction was ace. That isn't what this thread is about - it's about generating xmas spirit, excitement and goodwill towards each other. Lets not cheapen it with anymore tawdry talk of what people did or didnt spend. Let's just enjoy a strawberry floating awesome forum event and its feelgood factor!

The whole point isn't spending money, it's sending something you think the recipient will like and will enjoy. As long as you put in that effort, then you've done an awesome job. I also learned some new things about my fellow forumites and feel more involved in the Grcade community for it. (It was also fun watching JJ guess wrong )
As far as I'm concerned the minimum spend is just fine where it is. Raise (or even lower it I think) it and you'll just put people off participating.

Mafro, getting a tenner in a folded piece of A4 paper next year.

I did suggest that to begin with and recently as I know from first hand experience of working in a sorting office how much of a ball ache it can be if there's a silly name on the packet! (although only if it needs a signature, as you need I.D usually to get them, not with bog standard packets.)

Totally agree. All packages should be shipped to real names, not forum names. It looks like there may have been more than one or two drama's this year caused by naming problems

Yeah, names doesn't matter at all, but it's more of "best be on safe side than sorry". What matters is number of apartment if you live in one and/or postcode.

Hopefully all things will be sorted out soon; I'm sure there won't be repeat of Vesp/LonelyAngel fiasco this year though so no need to worry just yet.

Thing is, name does matter if you send it via a delivery method that requires ID when you get Royal Mail red carded and have to go collect it.

My local depot are very picky about that. If your ID isn't the right name, then they require you to have the ID of the name of the person it's addressed to, even if you live at the same address.
