Just from looking at the trailer I'm not sure that I like the mixed-franchise characters approach; it seems a bit messy. Then again, Fortnite includes a huge variety of characters so maybe it'll work. It's ~~free-to-play~~ free-to-start so I'm guessing that a fair number of people will try it?

I wouldn't mind a traditional COD multiplayer style game I can play for 5-10 mins at a time that doesn't require hundreds of gigs of space for stuff I don't care about. I'll probably download it and give it a go a couple of times and then forget about it.

Everything wrong with modern gaming, summed up in a single game.

So it's basically the expanded Tom Clancy verse + the other Ubisoft games that are close enough to be confused for Tom Clancy IP.

It would be much funnier if one of the factions was Rabbids.

I think that elements of other Ubisoft franchises are included... I was watching a vid and I'm sure that I saw a Rabbid!

Reminder that this launches today. But apparently there are server issues, so I’ll leave it for a bit.

Server issues seemed to be fixed by the time I tried it last night.

It's actually pretty good! I'm useless at these kinds of games, so maybe not the best judge, but it seems as good as CoD, only free. And thankfully not another Battle Royale. I played a couple of matches in the introductory playlist, and had a go at escort and area-control types. Obviously nobody knows WTF they are doing yet, so it's pretty chaotic.

And no egregious forced microtransactions (yet). There are plenty of challenges, and there's a battle pass that I didn't feel particularly compelled to look at.

Gave it a go too - runs nicely, i'm definitely hanging out for the wooden spoon award pretty much every game but its fun enough. The intro playlist gives you loads of extra stuff you don't have if you play the "normal" ranked/unranked modes, so is a good showcase but then you have to put the grind in to get access to them later. I've seen various "ultimate" abilities go off but have never got even close to filling the meter to using one myself, mind.
