Words that you used to get wrong

I occasionally get laughed at for the way I pronounce the word cafetière, but I genuinely can't hear what I'm doing differently. It's reached the point where I now just call it a coffee plunger.

Suede. I say swed everyone else says swayed or some other pish. They are all wrong.

I would say prothetheus even though I knew it was completely wrong and it was un-say able without a lisp

Its etymology is related to gene, so it is supposed to rhyme with it.

My sister still insists that 'Brigadier' is pronouced 'brigade-ear', and 'Grenadier' is pronounced 'grenade-ear'.
