Final Fantasy XV rumoured to be directed by Hiroyuki Ito of FFXII fame

Gamesmaster UK has posted a rumour about Final Fantasy 15, which sounds really promising. Check them out below and with a pinch of salt.

-Including the concept planning and pre-production phase, the game has already been in development for over 4 years.

-It entered full production in January 2010, a month after FFXIII was released in Japan. Since then it has had a development team of just over 200 people.

-The director is the same person who directed FFVI, FFIX and FFXII, Hiroyuki Ito.

-The co-director led a small part of the development team to make Tactics Ogre for the PSP in parallel with FFXV. He’s currently multi-tasking as lead UI designer of FFXIV 2.0 and co-director of FFXV.

-The game design and battle system will be a major evolution of FFXII.

-The game will be open world and have sprawling, crowd-filled cities on par with Assassin’s Creed.

-The battle system now allows you to target different parts of an enemy’s body like in Vagrant Story.

-Yoichi Wada (president of Square Enix) wants the game to have a world scale and volume of content that surpasses The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. He also wants the game to surpass FFVII in worldwide sales and critical reception.

-Will release on all major current gen platforms.

I hope to hell they stay away from those godawful hunting missions and the gambit system.

Although I could put up with both of those if they can find a writer than can write a decent plot and characters that have some depth and you don't necessarily want to murder within the first 5 minutes.

What!

I loved the hunting missions

Sorry 'bix

I have nothing wrong with the idea of missions per se but I was finding it was turning repetitive very quickly despite the attempts to make each mob unique in its skill set.

This might have been a side effect of me hating the battle system though. But I'm in the minority that despises that game so what do I know. :P

And that's where I stopped reading. As GamesMaster's Dep Ed I can safely say this is utter BS. Tracked down the source - a forum user on GameFAQS and Gamespot - who claims to have read this in our latest issue at the supermarket. There's no such thing in there at all.

Sorry.

(The issue's freakin' brilliant though, fwiw. Highlight: a 16-page Fighting Fantasy-esque Choose Your Own Adventure based on a Hitman: Absolution level...)

They already evolved the FFXII battle system. It's called Xenoblade.

This is fake, but as long as XV is nothing like XIII I'll be happy.

I have basically written off FF at the moment. I'm fed up of wasting money on their games and being disapointed. Unless there is some serious improvement over the last few I am not buying.

Please please please less weaboo and make a good game.

I absolutely love the Final Fantasy art style, the cutesy colourful look to it all.

Don't make trash like FF10-2, 11, 12, 13, 14 bullshit. They're a joke and sold well on the back of the older FF games.
