Ariel's added in the AC is safe from random drone strike - so we could protect someone we wanted to that way (do we have any reason to?)

But it might protect them from other night powers too...

Claiming the mighty Mick Dundee as my avatar and Vote Delta_Orange for leader.

Because lets be honest, Ariel isn't going to shoot the alpha day 1 so I like OR's 1/35 chance of victory.

Edit: We can also then lynch OR day 2 or otherwise just spend several days discussing his completely random choice afterwards.

I’m not going to be around much today but wanted to say I support the idea of rolling the dice and going random. We have nothing to go on, so random is the only fair way.

Ariel - is "No candidate" a vote? Or could literally one vote for a candidate (if it's the only vote) select the commander?

If "we don't want anyone to be in charge" were the consensus I would accept that.

But I don't think you really need a rules clarification here, I think you need a statement of intent:

I will follow the wishes of the thread as best I can, and I'm not going to punish clever solutions or ideas. To that end, some rules have been left deliberately vague so I can use my discretion.

Clarification please. A random kill is a random kill from everyone not just from the innocent side, right? I’ve been in games with both.

The rules just say a random but it can’t be the Acting Commander.

When a computer says random, we mean random. I'll feed the whole personnel manifest into my best random sort. My honour as a processor depends on it.

As clarified earlier, though, I won't shoot at anyone who has been elected Acting Commander, so they would be excluded. Commanders are supposed to be in charge, and I don't want to be court-martialled and forcibly reprogrammed when I get bored of this and fly home.

Fair enough. In that case, I think it's best leave it to chance. We're as likely to accidently ellect a mafioso (or whatever we're calling them) or accidentially kill someone important as we are to do any good at this point.

The spelling isn’t bad enough to be the real Errkal. Our beloved real Errkal would never spell “dudes” properly.

It's only the start of Day 1, anyone already claiming a special ability is probably not even worth protecting.

Electing no one and leaving it to random chance favours the enemy, as it is most likely to kill an innocent and doesn't give any information for us to use.

If you vote for me as acting commander, I'm still going to randomly pick. However that gains us /some/ information, especially if by pure luck I get one of the wolves (because then you're likely to believe my innocence). If you leave it to random chance with no one elected, then we don't get any information, even if by pure luck it does get one of the wolves.

Would you rather go into day 2 still pretty much knowing nothing, or at least having /something/ to discuss?

And as Nun says, you can always lynch me later (although I'd rather you didn't!)

This is a terrible terrible argument.

There's also no way to prove you'll pick randomly (e.g. "Oh I rolled a dice. Oh I got a villager? Oh how unfortunate") whereas Ariel is "certain" to be random

I actually agree with Hexx (for once), but still think we should elect someone. Ariel drone said there would be an event(?) after elections so we might get some info to lynch off of there or something. In which case having a choice before randoming is nice.

Delta_Orange wrote:And as Nun says, you can always lynch me later (although I'd rather you didn't!)

Also this is just an observation that if you put yourself forward as mayor on Day 1 and don't hit mafia you're inevitably lynched Day 2 'because there's nothing to go on', classic GRcade Meta.
