Past two years, I've been in trouble cos Silverstone has clashed with my GF's birthday. This year I'm not going, and it doesn't clash. Nice.

This year I'm in bother: E3 clashes with my wedding anniversary. :dread:

I tried talking the wife into moving our honeymoon last year because it clashed with a race weekend. I lost that discussion....

Nah, I'm punching well out of my league as it is. And she's never actually stopped me going...

On topic, Grosjean is looking very good after this morning's practice. I guess the funny thing is, though, these early-season practices really mean very little (unless your cars are crashing/on fire/running out of petrol, in which case you're strawberry floated).

I remember a few years back you hardly got any news out about these - now the BBC is doing a live text update :fp:

I like Grosjean and I think that if he can become a bit more stable around the track, i.e. not causing multi-vehicle pile ups every other race, then he might be able to challenge for a podium place or at least top five.

Lotus looking in good shape.

Lotus and Red Bull hopefully will have a nice battle this season, everyone has just improved last years car and personally I think they had the best starting point.

I just hope Grosjean does a better job of staying on the track this year.

The thing about Grosjean is that he's bloody good , but he's going to be pounced on the second he's involve din anything this year.

Not really, you can usually see whos going to do well after a few days.

Remember when Brawn had to sit all but the last test out? When they turned up everyone was :slol:

, then they drove out on track and it was a collective :dread:

Same in 1998 testing when McLaren turned up with their first Newey car and arse raped the lot of them by about 4 seconds a lap straight out of the box.

Given how few laps he put in, his time ain't that bad.

I heard stories about Mercedes reserving a metric fucktonne of development cash for this wnter, and that was what helped lure him across. I wonder if we'll see any evidence of that.

My thoughts exactly.

They missed out a lot of testing until the last minute and if I remember correctly they did have a problem with the funds too.

Once the season started, they were miles away from the others and won both titles in the first year. I must admit, their car might a little bland, but it was lovely style though. :wub:

Since they got swept away before most people saw them, and its quiet at the moment, does anyone fancy a look at my canada f1 photos again before I delete them?

Bored at work trying to write a feature on something very technical and way over my head; I'll go for some of that.
