Have you got to the missions set in the housing projects yet :dread:

The more I hear about this the happier I am that I didn't fork out for it.

I haven't been playing the plot for the past week but I have popped onto the game to do some side missions. Which means every strawberry floating time I play the game I get the joy of two long EXPOSITION phone calls and the radio restarting 3 times.
Also if you start any side mission during these they repeat again after.

For a game packed with side content they sure do make it a hassle to play the stuff

I'm not sure if some side missions repeat or the autosave is stupid.

Hilariously bad. I remember running away to escape after grabbing the info I needed and hearing one of the gang members call out after me "Damn, he's fast for a white boy."

Well, actually enjoying it myself. Some of then missions are quite refreshing for an open world game, one in particular at the start of the game where you're the driver and have to escape a police search.

Plot wise, I've never taken videogame writing too seriously to be honest, it's very rarely any good. This just seems painfully generic for the genre, but going along with it.

I haven't really done the campaign missions (I've only completed the first two) as I kept get sidetracked/distracted by all those side quests. And I'm still on the first district I started out on.

Plus how do you active online mode? I've been playing it for hours and I haven't really got any notifications. Is it due to uPlay being shite again?

I think there's a certain point before a campaign mission early on, where it activates an online mission all of a sudden (might be staged, think so) and from then on it's active.

This game has thrown up a fair few surprises and I think it's been unfairly targeted really. Ubisoft's own fault really though, labelling it the first next gen experience.

The first "online" mission is against AI, if you have the offline turned off Aiden then decides he can't connect to hunt down someone himself

Hmm. Then I shall continue my side quest fetish before advancing the campaign or otherwise it'll get annoying later on. :shifty:

The hype for this definitely did more harm than good, but I'm enjoying it more as I play.

The hacking works, I've had some decent escapes from cops etc using the abilities I have at my disposal and it felt cool. Same with the shooting, weapons feel powerful.

I've not found the missions to be boring so far either, then again I enjoy a more slow, stealth approach to games anyway.

I am enjoying this game a lot but for none of the reasons that I thought I would. The plot is full of holes, particularly in the central premise that Aiden is supposed to be a vigilante hero but seems to spend all day stealing money from innocents, causing city wide chaos and killing/threatening anyone who might bring him to justice. Did I mention that his primary motivation revolves around his own personal family and that he does not seem to give a gooseberry fool about the surveillance state? If anything he seems to appreciate being able to hack violate the privacy of others so easily.

Okay, so put aside the fact that the main character is just as much of an asshole as any GTA protagonist, try to maintain your suspension of disbelief and it is kind of fun to run around causing general mayhem. The driving is very arcade-like in the way cars bounce off each other like pinballs but that actually makes it much faster paced and fun than it otherwise would be. The shooting is fairly tight and it is quite fun to infiltrate enemy strongholds by scouting ahead with security cameras, disabling their ability to call reinforcements and plotting a route to your target before finally going in and attempting to stealth your way through.

Oh, and the police system is kind of weird. You can cause massive carnage and chaos on the roads and no one will call the cops even if you just plough through some pedestrians. However, simply pulling out a gun can trigger someone to dial 911. Furthermore, on the rare occasions when the police do come after you, they are extremely persistent (probably one of the reasons why the game is so lenient when you drive badly).

Think I'm going to send this back and get Murdered: Soul Suspect instead.

I would be seriously miffed if I'd actually bothered to spend money on it.

Act II Spoiler Alert
The Bunker is a lovely mission. It's a complete change of pace like any mini-adventure should be. Plus the music, the look of the place, the dusk lighting, the containers and the seemingly overgrown landscape made me flash back to The Last of Us...then my imagination ran completely wild on how Naughty Dog will create an amazing visual treat so much better than this peak of shining light in Watch_Dogs.

That mission was just...nice.

You know, this game is pretty weak overall, not by any mean a standard setter, but little feels like that shine really bright and give me hope there's something better to be had down the line.

I do like the cars chases in this game, though. At last, car chases that actually require me to no fuck-up so often. Much better than GTA.

What am I meant to be looking at there?

Don't know if it's a placebo effect but seem to be going better after updating the old graphics drivers. It's been fairly by the numbers so far but I'm seriously too hungover today to appreciate anything.

The non reflecting windows that don't even reflect what's across from the parking lot never-mind the player.

I drove out into the countryside outside of the city for the first time, not even realising it was even there after spending about twenty hours in the urban and central areas. The whole place rather looks stunning with the light effects going through the tress and the water on the lakes.

I don't know why people are saying they don't want this game after reading impressions. I think it sounds pretty fun.
