Just seen this on Steam and while I'm delighted to see what's essentially Advance Wars on the PC I wonder if it might not actually get released if Nintendo decide to send in the legal SWAT team.

This has lawsuit writen all over it.

Edit: I don't think that logo has anything to do with the games devs, it's just that YT channel.

I guess when they started out, Advance Wars was considered mothballed so they decided to push their luck. It’s been around for so long now, I’m astonished Nintendo haven’t shut it down. On the other hand, exclusives can get strawberry floated, so good luck to them.

If Palworld can do what it did with Pokemon there's literally nothing wrong here. They've made all their own assets and it's not a complete carbon copy. I just hope this is good.

Yeah, Palworld was pushing it, but this seems to copy literally every aspect of Advance Wars: unit style, map design, the look of the COs and their powers, battle animations, gameplay, everything.

The devs are clearly fans of Advance Wars, and Nintendo haven't been making any new games in the series, so fair play.

I personally prefer the line wargroove walks in inspiration and originality, but that's me.

Nothing wrong with copying a game's style or premise. You can find it uninspired but it's not unethical and shouldn't be illegal. (...But copyright law is crazy, so I have no idea if it is or not.)
