I was watching an old episode of Nitro on WWE 24/7 the other day and can't help but wonder: what's the deal with all the trash being thrown into the ring for no apparent reason, not just to the heels but to the faces as well? Do we not see this anymore because of fans being more mature now or is it just the case of better security not allowing such a thing. Why was it even allowed in the first place?

I remember it all starting with the nWo angle. The fans were "outraged" at their "heinousness" and threw garbage in the ring. The WCW brain trust loved it and though that it added to the storyline. Hell, they may have even had plants tossing the trash to begin with, it wouldn't shock me. Anyway, it became an accepted thing for a while and led to people throwing trash any time they felt like it. Eventually, the practice ran its course.

How can you not love it? The ring's a freaking mess, Schiavone's going loopy...

Happened in WCW every single week, whereas it's always been a pretty rare occurrence in the WWE. WrestleMania 2000 probably being the most high-profile case. The crowd were livid as hell at the end of the Fatal Four Way.

WWE SmackDown!'s 5/14 episode drew a 1.6 rating

Now this decline was inevitable. They'll probably let it sink completely & then attempt to build it back up again in September when it moves to SyFy. Well, you'd imagine so.

Monday's WWE Raw drew a 3.1 rating, which is down from the 3.4 rating that the commercial-free broadcast last week. The first hour of the show scored a 3.07 with 4.468 million viewers, while the second hour scored a 3.15 rating with 4.518 million viewers.

Wow, the ratings for RAW really are in the gutter. I would have expected the ratings to have increased slightly with iMPACT!'s return to Thursday night, but there doesn't seem to have been any change over the last few weeks other than a continuation of its steady decline.

If they drop below 3 - which is looking likely - Vince will definitely try & do something about it. They'll bring back Triple H early if necessary.

The last time Raw was doing 2's on a regular basis was 1997 when they were on the verge of collapse against Nitro. That's nowhere near the case now - they're making a lot of money - but the product is dire, & it's being represented in the viewing figures. People are abandoning the company. They'd be wise to rectify things now while it's balancing on the 3. They have to do a much better job of getting new people over, & they're just not managing it. They had a wonderful opportunity with NXT & they blew it after the first month.

Yet more Hogan hilarity...

Hulk Hogan claimed that he burned off all of his hair in a dyeing mishap. He said Linda used to dye his hair and he never paid much attention to it and so after she left he tried to do it himself and failed. He said he put the stuff in, rubbed it into his scalp, went to take a phone call, was on the line for a long time, and then when he went to wash it off all the hair came out. He said this was why he has been wearing hair extensions on TV.

The July Money in the Bank PPV was scheduled to have two Money in the Bank matches for two different briefcases. They are going to quickly water down what used to be a very special concept. The tentative plan is that one of the two winners will cash it in at SummerSlam. No word yet on whether it will be all main eventers in the matches or whether there will be two midcard MITB matches underneath and a "real" main event or two with stars on top.
