Another article on the story from yesterday.

Rourke to wrestle for real

Mickey Rourke has taken his new role in The Wrestler to heart - he is to step in the ring for real.

The actor has enjoyed a fairytale comeback after starring in the movie about a fading wresting star coming to terms with his life after a heart attack. He has already won a Golden Globe and is heavily tipped to win an Oscar for Best Actor.

However the star has embraced the character of Randy 'The Ram' Robinson so much that he has revealed he's taking up the 'sport' for real. He has already talked to WWE boss Vince McMahon about his plans.

He said, "I think I'm gonna do WrestleMania in Houston.

"The boys from the WWE called me and asked me to do it. I said, ‘I want to.’ I’m talking with [WWE legend] Rowdy Roddy Piper about it.”

“The nicest thing has been the whole wrestling community embracing us. The movie was about their world.”

The actor is definitely serious too as he previously took a lengthy time out from acting when he embarked on a boxing career.

I lasted the entire day avoiding finding out who won The Rumble so I could watch it tonight without knowing in advance. Then I accidentally saw it on Dailymotion. I'm so pissed off. :x

Talk is that it is going to be Jericho as well .... I just really don't wan't to see that! What a waste

EDIT: Why didn't they get their acts in gear earlier .... have him come out the Royal Rumble ... give it a novelty factor ... have him eliminate Santino and just leave it at that! Gives the film and the company a rub - yet doesn't over do it!

Rog wrote:Right so with the revelation that Big Show also eliminated 6 people there are two extra points to give out.

Mockmaster receives a point to push him up to 9.

And

So does A J STYLES!

Which means we do have a clear leader afterall!

GRAPL Leaderboard after Round 1
A J Styles - 11 (Close to perfection)
Zellery - 10 (The result of the Hardy bout cost him the two points as he lost the retains point too)
Trugamez - 10
Dark Dragon 64 - 10
Mockmaster - 9
Laggyjim - 9
Brick Tamlin - 9
Return_of_the_STAR - 9
Ironmaiden - 9
Teh Bork - 9
PsychoPriest - 8
Poncho - 8
Sw26 - 8
Adam Pollard - 8
Drumstick - 7
PsychicSykes - 7
Corazon - 7 (got the first 7 questions correct, let himself down bigtime on the rumble)
Lonestar - 6
Cropolite - 5
E-man - 4

Hardly. This'll be bigger than the Moneyweather match last year if Rouke wins the Oscar and seeing as Jericho doesn't seem to have any feuds in the pipeline to mania this makes more sense than throwing him into Money in the Bank. It'll be considered one of the main events and he'll get a big push from it even if he loses.

Or with all the media interest he'll leave wrestling again for loftier heights.

HDNet today announced the contract has been signed for a long-term television deal with Ring of Honor.

The announcement only stated it would be a weekly television show, and included a quote from HDNet owner Mark Cuban, stating, "Ring of Honor is an exciting addition to our programming lineup at HDNet. ROH has developed a cult following thanks to its special brand of professional wrestling and we are pleased to present it for the first time to a mass television audience.

"Ring of Honor is proud and excited to enter a partnershi with HDNet," said ROH owner Cary Silkin. "Our in-ring action is the perfect compliment to HDNet's respected programming and growing stature in the broadcast industry. It's a match most definitely made for a main event."

Also here's a gif of Jeff's ladder botch.

Just finished watching the rumble. Haven't read any of your comments so that i can give an unbiased view.

Over all it was a good ppv. Glad that i got most of my predictions correct. One thing about the whole event was that i could see everyone spot coming a mile off. As soon as Hardy turned up i knew he would turn on Jeff. As soon as HBK got in the ring i said to my brother i bet he lays both of them out, puts jbl on cena, then walks and out only for Cena to kick out and retain the title.

The only thing that caught me off guard was RVD returning, which was awesome as i love a RR suprise.

Yes i got the Glamazon V Melina match wrong but i kinda expected it as i was 50/50 b4 the match. Just knew Santino would be quickest out.

I think RR has set up WM well, lots of questions still to be answered especially as No way out is only in 3 weeks i think. Then there is a healthy gap till Mania allowing them to set up fueds.

Also anyone know if RVD is back for good?

So Raw tonight: Miz and Morrison v Cryme Tyme for the tag titles, and the start of qualifying matches for the Raw Elimination Chamber match at No Way Out.

I remember last night, a few people here were talking about how good the WWE guys are at editing. I fully agree! Great example, featuring one of the best of our times :D
