Typical no selling from the champ right there

I know people say there is nobody on the level of Cena in the company, but if they actually got imaginative they could very easily elevate guys like Punk or Bryan to that level. If you look at Punk, you can forgive them not giving him the top spot for the last year or so because Cena had the big match with Rock which was always going to headline Mania. You can kind of forgive them having Punk's match on the undercard at Extreme Rules because Lesnar/Cena was a great story and the match delivered.

But to have Cena headline again in a nothing feud with Johnny Ace (which Punk actually did better) was just silly booking. Punk is ready to go into that headliner spot but they don't seem to want to hold back at all with Cena. It almost feels like that for whatever reason they don't want to elevate anybody else into or alongside Cena's spot. So now Cena is like in a permanent holding pattern going from one duff feud to another until they fall upon something decent to do with him.

For example, they are probably going to go with a Big Show feud which will be used to kill another few months until either Brock is back again or they feel it is time to do another Cena/Punk match.

Just finished up watching the PPV and reading all your comments on here.

Overall i thought it was pretty good. Much better than i expected.

Battle Royale/IC title match - Nice to see Christian return and as a face. Poor Cody though, having read KK's post about how he actually hasn't won a match since he won the IC title back at ER. Also the BR was a nice surprise to start the show.

Tag Team title match - A good match that i originally had no interest in. Kofi really has been putting in some good matches recently. Obviously he's always had the skill and potential but he seems to be performing at a higher level at the moment. However i don't think i could ever buy into his character.

Divas match - Surprisingly good. I actually watched it all the way through without fast forwarding.

Brodus/Miz - Another match out of no where. Was ok but i wasn't that interested as it was obvious Brodus was gonna win. What amazes me is how they are treating Miz in the ring. He seems to be being buried so badly yet he is still doing tons of WWE appearances on talk shows, red carpets etc..

Ryback - Another suprise. However i had yet to buy into him.

WHC 4 way - A good match, even if the result was obvious.

Punk/Bryan - A great match. I may even give it another go later. The strange was though that AJ had no involvement in the match, not even sitting at ringside. Yet all the recent promo's have implied that she would be involved in some way.

Cena/Johnny - Funny and entertaining, even if it was predictable.

WWE.com has gotten word that Mr. Laurinaitis was rushed to the emergency room from Raleigh, N.C.’s PNC Arena, showing signs of...

  • A possible concussion.
  • Possible ACL damage to his knee.
  • Possible spinal injury.
  • Suffered various contusions over his entire body
  • Difficulty raising his left arm and left leg, which can indicate possible nerve damage.
  • Possible broken clavicle.

In other words, practically dead. Over-doing things just a little...

I'll risk the wrath of many here...but Punk hasn't really lived up to expectations for me. I watch his matches expecting to be blown away but I find him to be a little...dull. He works "injured" in the majority of his matches and he looks slow. He misses beats - Triple H called him a "skinny fat ass" and I know what he means.
No doubt, he's miles ahead of a lot of guys under WWE contracts but do we think many would have taken his "Best in the World" gimmick very seriously if he'd been around in the '90s with Bret, Shawn, Perfect, Owen and before that guys like Steamboat and Savage?

For the money, I think Bryan is a lot more entertaining and versatile in-ring.

Jondhi, what a man. Enduring all that and still overcoming the odds to beat Cena's evil regime. Jondhi, a true role model for all.

The problem Punk has is (as back in the RoH days and even more so when he did IWA-MS and he was interviewed and shocked the crowd were more into Delirious then him in their first match together) he can get lazy very easily, especially with gooseberry fool opponents and no motivation. He knows he can do a half assed job and be better then the entire roster. He got picked up on this a lot and got a lot of heat from the crowd in the days - If you had Punk working back in the 90s then you'd have a motivated and harder working Punk, one that would have really strived to the title Best in the World gimmick. I hope a series between Punk and Danielson happens because it's the sort of work that will give Punk a push when he watched Daniel carry him.

Personally I think Punk has had consistently superb matches for about the last 6 months. His PPV matches in particular have been sublime, the mania match with Jericho being merely "good".

EDIT: Watching Cena/Johnny it actually sounded like King was laughing at how crap it was.
