That reminds me of something. I have 3 or so friends that really like wrestling, and it was one of their birthdays lately. Another friend got him Robin Ethics's autograph, complete with certificate of authenticity

Actually, Metallica won't give him the rights to the music - apparently because when they were just attaining superstar status in the late 80s/early 90s they offered to perform at a PPV, possibly Wrestlemania, for free and Vince told them where to shove their offer. Then when WWE asked them for the permanent rights to Enter Sandman the first time he went back, they told the WWE where they could go.

Interesting - hadn't heard that story before. The WWE have been rather stingy when it comes to theme music on DVDs though - whether it was Voodoo Chile for Hogan, the nWo theme or Undertaker's old Kid Rock entrance.

Eric Bischoff's on the bullshit bus again...

It's been a few months since the Paul Heyman-to-TNA talk was at a fever pitch. The former ECW owner has stated since then that talks had taken place but the wrestling promotion just wasn't ready for him at this time.

Some people believe that a deal was close to being agreed upon for the former ECW owner to join the wrestling promotion in a backstage role. TNA consultant and former WCW Executive Producer Eric Bischoff was asked on the "Between The Ropes" radio show what he made of the talk of Heyman joining the company.

"Hyperbole," said Bischoff. "Yeah, it didn't really surprise me. Look, Paul's first and foremost a great promoter in the old-school sense and Paul got some attention, he got his name out there, he created some controversy, created some awareness. I believe that Paul believed every word he said but I also knew what was going on behind the scenes and I didn't really overreact to it."

Heyman is known as a hype specialist and has this unique talent of making a little thing and spinning it into something bigger than life.

But just in case Heyman somehow did end up working in TNA with Bischoff, Hulk Hogan and creative director Vince Russo, you have to wonder if they could all coexist.

"I know that Hulk (Hogan) and (Vince) Russo and I can all coexist," said Bischoff. "All three of us would want to coexist. I can't speak on behalf of Paul because it would take ... It's one of the things that I've learned and it's actually been one of the most rewarding aspects of me being at TNA is the chemistry and the amount of respect and ease in which Russo and I can work together."

Bischoff admitted he hasn't always been the easiest guy to get along with and is a 'Type A' personality but has changed his ways at this stage in his life.

"But to answer your question, Hulk has gone through that same process. He and I work a lot differently now than we used to 10 or 15 years ago. It's a lot healthier and a lot better. Hulk and Vince work very, very well together. I would like to think that if Paul Heyman were a part of a team at TNA that we could all work together. I would be disappointed in myself if I was the reason why that couldn't happen."

The Flair and HBK sets are musts, never been much of a fan of Dusty's work so personally I would avoid that one. You can't go wrong with either of the other two, but if I was forced I'd side with the HBK set.

I've been gradually watching the Best of Smackdown DVD over the past few weeks, and while at first I wasn't convinced about the format (it's a best 100 moments countdown so there's lots of quick highlight packages interspersed with full matches unlike the Raw DVD which focused on fewer longer full segments) I'm absolutely loving it. It's amazing how many of these things are at the back of my mind somewhere and suddenly come flooding back.

No Idea if it's been previous mentioned but I read somewhere that Hogan is pushing for a "Hulk Hogan - Judge Judy" style TV show, it'll suck but with his catchphrases could be comedy gold

What's peoples thoughts on Robin Ethics? I read the above post and was unsure if the facepalm was because the certificate could not of been authenticated as he's dead (which means it could be from before he passed), or because of the guy in question? I don't condone nor does anyone what he did, but I still have respect for Benoit in terms of his wrestling ability and what he achieved, and I urge you all to check out Paul London and Brian Kendericks' shoot where they bring up Benoit stories, comedy gold

What happened at Backlash 07?

Taker/Batista Last Man Standing and the Cena/Edge/Orton/HBK Fatal Four Way, two amazing matches.

Not just them two main events though, the entire show was really good: The Hardys v Cade and Murdoch, the best of the bunch of Benoit v MVP matches, and a surprisingly good women's match.

Just because it's a weird present, really.

Well, he was an excellent wrestler, one of the best ever, and that can't be taken away from him.

He made lots of bad choices in his life, but when we hear about the state of his brain when he died, I don't think we should just turn our backs on him entirely. There's no excuse for what he did and if he were alive he should be in prison until death, but we watched him get hit in the head with chairs, do that ridiculous top rope headbutt (that had already paralysed Dynamite Kid) and generally bust his balls every night. It's like being entertained by a man spreading petrol around his legs for 10 years, then completely disowning him when he drops a match.

I don't mean to defend him too much; it was a horrible act, and the whole wrestling industry could go away if it meant bringing Daniel and Nancy back. But I'd feel hypocritical if I didn't preface my disgust with the prior paragraph.
