But lots of wrestlers have been going out there & having great matches. Rey Mysterio has hardly defined or stood out this year.

Stone Cold damn well wasn't having the best matches in either 1998 (the main events in the later half of 1998 were terrible) or 2001, but he was incredibly entertaining, charismatic & memorable to those watching. Triple H was 2000. Looking back, you'll be hard pressed to remember what Rey Mysterio did in 2009.

Indeed, the most memorable thing of Rey's year was the fact he was injured alot and came back looking twice the size he did originally! I have to admit his stint in the elimination chamber was some fine work + some of his matches with Jericho were awesome. That said there are far more deserving of this award ... CM Punk being one!

I'd also say Robin Ethics in 1999 is an anomaly too. 1999 was the year of The Rock.

Lucien wrote:We could argue about any list at the end of the day. In fact... I'm doing that myself while trying to think of matches I could stick on a DVD. My own 'best of' [I'm assuming you can d/l the individual matches?]

So far I only have two written down,

- Taker vs HBK [WM XXV]
- Taker Vs Angle [No Way Out '06]

Any ideas? :)

The more and more I recall Michaels vs HBk, the more I feel (i need to find it on youtube to watch again) that it was probably just spot after spot, and not really a story in the match, which is fine, but compared to some matches doesn't make it good on pure wrestling. But as it goes, pretty much any Michaels match at WM or main event will be a fantastic match to get hold of. HHH vs Cactus Royal Rumble 2000 is excellent in entertainment value, I liked the Rock vs Angle at No Mercy and No Way out (2000/2001), not the greatest ever but entertaining. The triangle ladder match (which was really the first TLC match) at WM 2000, is great entertainment also.

So the best WWE/WWF has ever produced? Woah. Off the top of my head...

HBK Vs HHH Vs Benoit - WM20
HBK Vs Taker - Badd Blood
Taker Vs Lesnar - No Mercy 02
HBK Vs Flair - WM24
HBK Vs Angle - WM21
Rock Vs Austin - WM17
Bret Vs Austin - WM13
Austin Vs Angle - Unforgiven 01
HBK Vs Mankind - Mind Games (underated classic)
Benoit Vs Angle - Rumble 03
TLC2 - WM17
Angle/Benoit Vs Edge/Rey Vs Eddie/Chavo - No Mercy 02

No offence...but that's a weird list.

Taker v Mankind at KOTR? Hogan vs The Rock at WM18? HHH vs Cactus at the Royal Rumble or the follow-up at No Way Out? Razor vs HBK? That's only within the last 15 years. I'd guess Savage vs Warrior/Steamboat should be there too.

It might be better to do a 'best of the WWE', 'best of the Attitude Era' and 'best of the Federation'.

Well I left loads out but I had been drinking all night :P , miracle my typing remained semi-decent. I still think all those matches are worthy of such a list though. If anyone hasn't seen the Mind Games match then you reall really have to.

Turns out Rey's number one contendership is for next week's christmas Smackdown. Taker Vs Rey should be good but I can see Batista interference coming a mile off and a triple threat at the Rumble. Maybe leading to a Batista/Rey title match at 'Mania.

Do TNA have no sense of realism anymore? That people would watch someone get set on fire, while holding the fire instrument, then taking it back. strawberry floating hell

Born Snowy wrote:You don't remember the Jericho feud because like almost everyone in this thread you're not fans of actual wrestling anymore, you only watch to point out how crap it the product is and how it should be more like the good old days/WCW. They put on consistently good matches, some of the best of the year and include Rey's other matches this year and he's probably the best the WWE has had in 2009, minus Punk as I said.

What a ridiculous thing to say(I only watch free PPVs, the only thing keeping me in this thread is GRAPL :shifty: ). Regardless, it's difficult to argue that the WWE has gone downhill hugely since the glory days of the attitude era, it's like the slide of the early nineties though so I have faith it'll pick up soon. I could still rhyme off a few good matches this year, but with that said, I didn't enjoy the Mysterio/Jericho feud at all - Jericho was wasting his time in it and although the matches were technically great, I don't really like Rey's style any more and I think his character is gooseberry fool, so personally it did nothing for me. Jericho's feud with Michaels last year should show people how it's done - another character I immensely dislike, but a fantastic feud that actually got me watching RAW for a time. The prospect of Rey Mysterio being back i nthe main event picture is not something that fills me with joy, for different reasons than other people. This year's Wrestlemania could be a classic, they have the personnel now to make it so.

Is that a rehearsal? And why is a (presumably) TNA official helping Stevie set him on fire?

Worst of all, not only does Abyss' leg go up, the whole right side of his body seems too as well.

It's a rehearsal yes, but Spike wouldn't show the final cut. Still, strange to break kayfabe and post it up for all your fans.
