The crowd singing the national anthem of France, the
La Marseillaise, along with some other song repeatedly during the main event. :slol:

It was a pretty decent event given how predictable it was, but my god the French totally made that unmissable! Maybe the greatest crowd I've heard on TV. Just insanity, they were insanely hot the whole time and could have done another 3 hours!

Bloody French, has to be war now and the British crowd has to be even hotter during the UK tour for clash! We are the real hot crowd!

Loved the main event, AJ and Cody put on an absolute banger. Can't believe AJ can be as good as he is at this stage of his career. He was like a young up and comer! People think Cody will go cold, this is where the other guys on the roster have to do their magic like AJ. Superb main event.

Backlash was great, the matches were all solid but brought alive by the crowd. I can’t see anyone matching that, although it’s going to be fun judging future events in different countries.

Based on what I’ve seen on TV the last few weeks, you’d have to be off your tits to spend £200 on SmackDown.

That pricing would be the equivalent of, say, Wimbledon on semi-finals day on Centre Court. For the WHOLE day. Or tickets to the FA Cup Final at Wembley, which were just a little over a hundred. And they were great seats, not a few feet away from God.

Conversely, I just paid a genuinely disgusting amount of money for the PPV itself. Floor seats, row G, Celtic top at the ready for the cameras if I'm hard cam side. They won't come back here for a PPV, so this is a one-off chance to see them at a proper event in my ShItHoLe of a home city. I don't like that I'm abetting the continuance of a genuinely predatory business practice on the WWE's part, but meh.

£191 cheapest i could find for Smackdown
£303 cheapest i could find for clash

It's not a question of *if* i'd pay that... i literally do not have the money to pay for something like this.

Enjoy Cora... i don't blame anyone for going. WWE are a scummy organisation and that's not news to anyone. I hope you have fun.

The Cardiff Clash prices were ridiculous too at the high end and even what you’d expect mid range to be, but at least you could get cheaper tickets. I suppose with a lower capacity venue they can really take advantage of people.

They keep harping on about shows breaking records for the gate takings, and it’s annoying as you know it’s only because they charged such crazy prices.

Thanks dude. Yeah, it's a shitty situation and those of us on low or middle incomes are more or less completely priced out of the market. I'm willing to bet that a solid minority of the crowd will be American folks who travel from PPV to PPV as well. A lot of longtime Scottish wrestling fans will get the shaft with the prices that are being charged.

FWIW I also don't have the money, at all, that I've just dropped on the ticket but I'm moving to the United States for a year in August and this is one of the last opportunities I'll have to see friends before I leave, so that's the justification I used. Klarna'd the gooseberry fool out of it.

EDIT: As GWAK says, the Hydro is only a 14,100 seater for floor seating events, so it's very easy for them just to blooter the prices up to stupid levels and remove the affordable tickets that you might get at, say, the Principality.

I'm in the process of paying for a holiday in 3 "easily manageable monthly repayments" so don't imagine telling the missus i'd bought clash tickets would go down well.

Had I not been to Raw with Maf and Jay, I think i would've sprung for this in the end, but feel like I already have a value attached to an event in the Hydro and it's definitely not what they're asking.

Having said that, i'll be jealous af watching it on the network. 8)

On a RAW or SmackDown I think it’s possible the crowd would have sat on their hands (BTW, how bad was the crowd on RAW this week!) but on a PPV, especially Mania, they would have reacted. In fact the crowd popped big as soon as they heard The Brood music, so that tells you everything.

The prices are wild, I know it's due to boosting profit & demand but considering house shows are usually (at least if I remember right last time I went in the UK) quite reasonable, £200-£300 is something else. I think I paid £150 last year for Wales though.

Absolutely obsessed with this match from Tommy Billington and FTR Bald.

Dynamite Kid's nephew Tommy is using the same moniker and if you see his gait and wrestling style, it's like watching early Dynamite Kid/Benoit. It's almost eerie. Great match and dare i say it, Bald was the perfect opponent.

Looking forward to watching the full bout when I have caught up on my AEW viewing (I'm about 2 weeks behind on Collision and Dynamite).

Okada is obviously very good at wrestling in ring but take him outside the ring and have crowd interaction or backstage and its like its his first day on the job.

Really? He's pretty good at crowd interaction during his matches from what I've seen. The backstage stuff is meh but he can't speak the language so it's to be expected.

On that note Shibata's gimmick to get around the language barrier is pretty fun.

Enjoyed that a lot. Shat myself at one point that Dynamite Jr was going for a suicide headbutt off the top (a move I genuinely think should be banned) but he went for the flying elbow instead.
