Good luck, Outrunner! Keep your wits about you and take your time.

Thanks! Once I'm back in Chesterfield ( :dread: ) I should be fine. There are parts of the town that are flooded but my route home is usually fine (the advantage of living on a hill)

We need to check on a house we own in Chesterfield to make sure it’s not flooded, it’s sold and due to complete before Christmas and don’t want the hassle if the worst has happened

Have things gotten any better in your street? Looked awful last night.

She cooked fajitas and gave me a lovely warm blanket, so yeah, I was pretty toasty :D

Anyway, safely home now, the roads around my house are pretty clear but I'm seeing on Facebook that all the usual places in town were flooded yesterday. It's pretty heartbreaking to see that the people who live there are going through this again. I read that the local leisure centre had been set up as an evacuation point :(

Its stopped raining but there is still a slight drizzle, the water is going down but we are still unable to get our car back as that street is still flooded, I don't have any wellington boots here so to get out would mean getting wet, cold and ruining another pair of trainers so pretty much trapped at the moment

Pretty extreme heat in Brazil at the moment:

Red alerts have been issued for almost 3,000 towns and cities across Brazil, which have been experiencing an unprecedented heatwave.

Rio de Janeiro recorded 42.5C on Sunday - a record for November - and high humidity on Tuesday meant that it felt like 58.5C, municipal authorities said.

More than a hundred million people have been affected by the heat, which is expected to last until at least Friday.

Officials have attributed it to the El Niño phenomenon and climate change.

Yeah, it sure is cold, Jen - can confirm that it's a bit nippy in saaf Lundn, too. Winter has arrived with a bang today!

Lovely morning. 3 degrees and sunny. It really is the perfect weather. I'd not grumble at a bit of snow but we can't have everything

It was lovely today.

The only trouble with snow is that this country is gooseberry fool at dealing with it which means nothing works (even more than usual) when it happens.

My view on snow tends to be very selfishly based on the fact I've rarely been inconvenienced by it. The only time I can think of off the top of my head was my first trip to Japan when I got snowed in at Heathrow so almost missed meeting up with the tour group. Ironically I almost missed the Sapporo snow festival because of the snow. Having to pay work back for time lost due to snow closures over the years has also been a bit of a pain. Other than that I love it, I'm hoping one day to be able to live somewhere that reliably has snowy winters, ideally somewhere in the north of Japan.
