I wonder how the sequels will be looked at in 15-20 years time.

The prequels were detested for so long, but now seem to be looked on fondly.

I can't imagine that could possibly happen with Rise of Skywalker though.

Indeed, I really didn’t mind the force awakens. But seeing the storylines develop in these tv shows and knowing how it all ultimately ends makes it all feel a bit sour.

That's what happens when the target audience comes of age. Kids introduced to Star Wars with the Sequels, love them.

Generally speaking, the first experience you have of something, lays the foundations of your connection to it, setting up all your expectations, and you're probably going to prefer it - so yeah there's a whole generation of Sequel fans.

This time, though, Sequel hate isn't the pop culture phenomenon Prequel hate was, and people are less afraid to vocalize their liking it, so the turnaround time on the redemption is most likely going to be shorter.

I still maintain that The Force Awakens was a very solid start to the sequel trilogy and that The Last Jedi is a great film, The Rise of Skywalker is just a bad film, laughably bad in places.

Prequel wise, Revenge of the Sith is very good, The Phantom Menace has its moments as well, Attack of the Clones could have been so much better but still has the odd good scene (seismic charges  ), the memes have definitely helped a portion of the fanbase warm to the prequels.

The worst thing about the sequels is how they have to make sure everything lines up in the current stuff. Although Force Awakens was half decent, I've really no interest in knowing how the galaxy got to that point because the whole setup was just cribbed from a New Hope. It's a big galaxy, maybe we could have something that isn't Skywalker based.

I think the way they specifically should move forward is ignore the sequels are even happening. Have Asohka and the rebels crew off in some other part of the galaxy trying to deal with Thrawn doing his own gooseberry fool completely independently of those ass sequels maybe include Chiss the planet as well since we've never seen it in live action before and problem solved. Have that explain why the Bad Batch, Rebels crew, Mandalorians and Thrawn were completely absent from the sequel trilogy as well by just making it's own thing.

TV shows are planned out by showrunners. Obviously there's a lot more to it than that, and there have still been some duds like Obi-Wan but the TV stuff has generally been well thought out and planned.

For the sequel trilogy for some reason they decided to play hot potato between directors with completely different visions rather than plan it out carefully. A bizarre decision and it's why storylines and character arcs are such a mess.

One question

Is Senator Xiono, the one grilling Hera, supposed to be a secret Empire supporter or is he just supposed to be ignorant to the continued threat of the empire etc

I was wondering this too.

He's either an Imperial agent/sympathiser or he's just a wanker.

I'm hoping he's just a wanker because him being an imperial would be boring.

Boring, yes. But him being an Imperial would show how deep into the system the loyalists are. Though, yeah. Him being an ignorant idiot would be the better of the two options.

I'm happy for lots of imperials to be revealed.

But that guy is so obviously a wrong 'un that it'd be boring for him to be a traitor and not just a jumped up dickhead who's loving extending power over others.

He's a character from the show Star Wars Resistance

I don't think he's necessarily an imp but he basically didn't really have much against the empire as far as I'm aware despite his son taking part in the resistance, I think either way he would've been happy so currently he's not that worried that the imps are doing anything as he thinks he's pretty much set for life.

Very good finale, really left me wanting more.

Big spoilers.

The fights were exceptional throughout, from Sabine body slamming the T-6 through the TIEs to Ahsoka and Morgan's fantastic duel.

The lightsaber building scene was lovely and bittersweet.

Cool to see the Great Mothers demonstrating some of their power, to finally give us those zombie Death Troopers!

Sabine unlocking her power in the Force. What a moment! Her arc is a great story of "anyone can use the Force, you don't need a special lineage", very complimentary to the Last Jedi.

Ezra getting kitted out in the armor, of course he would do that. Very good to see him home again at last.

Thrawn was great throughout, didn't see as much of him as I'd hoped, but he acted intelligently, planned well and did everything he needed to, to get away. Competency for the win.

Baylan didn't get much screen time, because he was hiking up the... Mortis God mountain?! Holy crap. Is he going to try to overthrow or join them?

Shin taking up with the bandit tribe, l don't know what to make of that. I guess she'll become their leader and be a problem for the heroes.

Live action Dathomir when? :o

That appearance at the end, ahhhhh.

Such a beautiful finale. I hope they give us more with Ahsoka. And especially with what Baylan is doing. They can't just build up his quest for greater power, tease us like that, then never follow up with it! Answers!

Also, I really love that we got zombie Stormtroopers thanks to the Dathomirian magick to be a thing in live action. Very creepy.

A recast seems inevitable at this point, tbh. It's too big a plot to just write off.

What a strawberry floating ending.

I'm actually really glad Thrawn got the big W here by getting home, but it's not completely secured as Ezra also made it back.

All I can say is could they not have at least got us one scene with Zeb T_T

After that finale, my prediction for the future is that:

Zilnad is going to be so disappointed when he looks at this.
