Thanks Curls, when the physio told me last week I was in shock and actually broke down that night.

I'm really lucky that I have private medical through work so I'm hoping to be seen soon. Just awaiting confirmation on my claim.

I'm awaiting an MRI scan on my knee, must admit I'm feeling pretty low at the moment as running takes up so much of my time and I have this big empty void at present.

Sorry to hear this, I know running means as much to you as it does me.

We got this

Thanks mate, once I have the MRI booked in at least that will be a step in the right direction, I just hate waiting.

Wow, do you need all them. I just buy a pair of trial runners and use them for everything!

Although my current pair have now done well over 1,000 KM and i wont get new ones until october when I'm back from St Helena. I'm binning them before I leave as less weight on the flight.

Before my injury I was running 30-40km a week. You should be replacing your shoes every 300-500 miles or 500-800km depending on the shoe and the terrain you run on. (I doubt think my Clifton 8’s will last longer than 600km).

I tend to buy 2 a year.

Aye, I tend to replace usually. I just physically can't out here sadly.

But still...so many pairs! I just run one pair out, and then replace. Where do you store them all?!

I have my consultant booked for the 20/09/22, hopefully he agrees and then authorises the MRI.

Fingers crossed.

Added another day's run into my recovery but only a 2km so now doing 12km a week. Far off the 30-40 I normally do.

I picked up running again around the end of May, and I've been running 5-10k 3 times a week since. For the first time I feel like I actually 'get' it, and am not just forcing myself to go out in the name of exercise until I inevitably give up again.

That was until a few weeks ago when I noticed a discomfort in my right ankle the day after a run. Initially it would disappear after a day until I'd run again, but when it stopped going away I took a week off. After that I went out for a gentle run to test the waters, and it immediately returned. It's been 9 days now since that run and it still feels the same. It's not really painful at all, and I don't really feel it any worse when I'm running. Seems like such a minor thing to have seen by someone, but I'm also getting concerned that the longer I have off the more likely I am to fall out of the habit and back to a life of being sedentary. :|

Go see a physio, it's probably a mechanical issue

I’ve been running quite a lot recently - something like 25-30km a week, which isn’t a lot for many but is for me. Been training for a 10K race tomorrow. Unfortunately I seem to be developing a shin splint for the first time in years, so haven’t run since Monday to try and rest it for tomorrow.

I don’t really care how I do tomorrow but the idea of not being able to run properly until it’s healed is really demotivating.

Also got back into the running the last few weeks. Been doing a lot more actual easy pace runs with a HR chest strap and keeping it in zone 2. Definitely the way to go for me, my legs feel much fresher when I do do a harder effort.

Despite doing hardly any miles this year my fitness hasn't decreased too much. If anything I'm faster on the hills than I ever was and could probably challenge my 5k PB on a flat route. I've just lost some pace over longer runs but feel I will soon catch up.

Got my MRI today and I only saw my consultant yesterday.

He reckons it's an inflamed patellae, let's hope it's not to bad then I can start running again!

MRI went well on Wednesday, get my results on October 4th. Hopefully I can then plan my comeback.

Fingers crossed!

I just signed up for another crazy race in March to give me some motivation to keep training.

It's called Fallout and you 12hrs to outrun a virtual radiation cloud in any direction you like. Goal is to reach 40 miles as the crow flies.

Don’t know if i have added my main blog (I have a gaming one too) on here, I just added it to the parkrun thread but its

https://martynpoole.wordpress.com/

Mostly running and injuries and some other stuff.

My achilles is healing nicely and no pain on Saturdays run only after for a little while. Wrong or right i have decided to go ahead with the marathon this Sunday however, as I am unprepared and not fully healed, I am joining others waking it, its a 5mile loop so if things start to hurt i can drop out.
