Voted for 6 but that run of 3-6 is all incredible.

Gone with 5, for me every episode is great!

3 to 6 is incredible, but I really enjoy the dower tone of the first two series, very dry and sarcastic which is just my kind of humour

For me there is before Out of Time and after Out of Time.

1-6 is all fantastic, the more subdued feeling of 1&2 is often overlooked IMO! Some stone cold classics in there as well: Future Echoes, Me², Thanks for the Memory, Queeg

In terms of best series my heart pick is VI as it was the first series I watched in full when it went out live and so has a special place, but the head pick is V as it's just such a strong collection of episodes.

Hoping we're going to get some news on new Dwarf stuff soon, all of the main cast plus Doug have been billed as attending MegaCon in Manchester next week so that could be a sign they are gearing up for something... :toot:

4 was probably my favourite, though it's a close run thing.

I always hated Queeg but in my later years it's now probably one of my favourites from that season.

I voted VI because it’s the one I’ve watched most. I had every episode on tape and watched them to death during the drought years of 94-96.

Only thing stopped me going for 6 was out of time, personally it was the weakest of an amazing season for me. Whereas 5 (again for me) was perfect.

I’ve always said 6 and I voted 6 but I can totally see the argument that 5 didn’t have a single bad episode whereas the ending to 6 was a little iffy (though miles better that’s the recent stuff). Gunmen of the apocalypse remains my favourite episode from sheer spectacle even if there were better plots.

I’ve just done a complete re watch and I still hate series 8 with a passion. The whole point was that lister was the last human, having the whole crew brought back was stupid and the prison / dirty dozen concept was garbage.

The most recent series seem to have massive pacing issues and they all seem to end very abruptly. They don’t even try to tie up story threads just end, credits and move on with events never mentioned again.

In doing the re watch there are a lot of plot holes, Ret cons and flat out mistakes. The worst for me is the change that lister DID date Kochanski. The whole point was that he admired her from afar and had very few actual conversations with her, hence Holly bringing back Rimmer instead.

Yeah, the Lister Kochanski relationship seems to get retconned along with a few other things (like the ship suddenly gaining 1000 new crewmembers) when they fold some of the lore of the first two books into the TV series from IV onward. I don't mind it too much at that point, but come series VII when they start to dig into their relationship more it starts to get a bit wonky. Continuity has never been the shows main focus to be fair and the early era ethos of "it doesn't matter as long as what we are doing is good/funny" tends to hold up well, the ret cons and errors only start to jar when the quality dips :dread:

And yeah the Dave era is definitely guilty of pacing issues at times, the abrupt ending to Officer Rimmer in particular being a standout where it just seems to end out of nowhere, feels like a half finished edit of the episode!

He's right, this is really cool.

Or, as Dangerous Dan McGrew would put it:

They were built to last, Starbug crashed more times than a ZX81.

3 million years old and still goes like a dream! :datass:

There are rumbles that they may be gearing up to make some new Dwarf at some point, not clear on whether that means another special or a whole series yet. The cast have been at a few conventions and let slip that things are moving again :toot:

Hope it's better than the promise land, that wasn't as good as the series.
