Just to echo those thoughts, the story telling is also great and the way it's done, especially 2/3 way through after a key event is incredible, edge of your seat stuff.

Songwriter, I too will be starting the game soon, although on the PS3 rather than the PS4. I've not read reviews of the game and only glanced at the odd glowing statement here in GRcade. I'm really looking forward to diving in, although I hope it's enjoyable to play in a setting so apparently dark and dank.

If you buy the US PSN version you can get it for a few pence more than the old Zavvi deal. At the current exchange rate it'll set you back £35.74.

That's not bad, luckily I pre-ordered from Zavvi when it was the cheaper price + 10% discount

I got £1 something quidco too, so £34 odd isn't bad for me, particularly when I've never played it on PS3.

Yes?

I can't wait.

Without spoiling anything - what makes it game of the year/generation?

I am deeply envious. Enjoy it mate.

The main thing for me was the the combat doesn't disconnect you from the world like it does in other games like uncharted.

You're still murdering a bunch of people but it feels WAY more believable than every other game I've played.

How do you know what it feels like to murder a bunch of people :dread: .

:fp:

I just meant there's not as much of a disconnect between the game play and the story.

That's exactly what you would say though isn't it.

Do you have a patio by any chance?

The violence is contextually appropriate. Even though it's quite exteme.

exactly. Joel is believable as a mass murderer. Nathan Drake is not.

But he only does so out of necessity to keep those he loves safe.
He never revels in it.

Agreed. I bought a playstation for this game. Worth every single minute. Utter gaming brilliance. Only comparable in feelings to the first time I booted up resident evil.

Ellie and joel

Will be re buying this and getting a ps4 when it hits.

Fabian Delph is a banana split.

You can really see the sources of inspiration though, no complaints. Some bits are as if you're inside 28 days later. Turns out the film was a major inspiration.

For me, it was one of those 'play once, too much feel, sell' games. Will definitely replay on the ps4 at some point though, unless other games decide to come out. Some games for my ps4 would be grand right now.

I've come to the realisation that this may actually be my favourite ever game apart from OOT.

Just talking about it makes me want to play it. Glad I traded it in. It will make the wait worthwhile

CVG has a short news story about the game and a couple of lines are rather interesting:
Druckmann (the creative director) said The Last of Us Remastered is a straightforward port at the moment, but he is considering taking advantage of PS4's improved triggers and touchpad.

Remastered will also include a number of The Last of Us DLC packs featured in the game's season pass, including the Left Behind single-player add-on.

I'd thought that the conversion to the PS4 had been in progress since the PS3 version launched - it seems odd if the capabilities of the PS4 controller have only been considered at this late stage. As for the DLC, I'm wary of the wording "include a number of"; this sounds like not everything will be included.

I guess these aren't huge drawbacks but it certainly creates a few questions. I know that folk will call out that we're still getting one of the best games of last year with a bit of extra polish, but I'm a bit cautious about dropping forty-to-fifty quid on this.

I ordered this for £35. Never had the "original" so a bit of a bargain IMO.

Yes?
