Nope, hwb is a container for water from the kettle, not a directly powered heating source

Agree with this, anything that has a continuous application of energy to sustain heat for the sole purpose of heating is the differentiator here, I think.

And I'm on the wall of warm, other half said it was so cold it was affecting her breathing so I let her (/she worked out how to) put the heating on 48hrs later.

Still haven't cracked here. Though I reckon the other flats around ours have put theirs on and maybe we're leeching heat from them - it's been freezing outside the last few days but not that cold indoors yet.

Hasn't been that cold in my flat yet, coldest it got was 21c which I dealt with by just wearing my dressing gown. Felt good.

Boiler's packed up so I've not even got hot water

Feels pretty mild outside to me, can't see ours going on for a while yet

Honestly I don't really get how the temperature in my flat works. All throughout summer even with full aircon on the temperature never went below 23c overall according to the thermometer and was always at like 28-29c if I didn't turn the aircon on and it was unbearable. I've got this and a thermastat on the wall and both say the same, but I've been starting to feel chilly when they both read around 21c. Outside I can be in a T-Shirt and shorts at like 14c like it was earlier and not have any issues so I don't get why the temperature of my flat is so weird. I thought at first it was my thermastats being broken, but as soon as I bought this thermometer as well and it read the same thing I didn't really understand how it was possible.

Yep, not even a hint of the heating being required yet. Feeling confident this year.

Apparently, 24th of October is the average date by which most people crack and put the central heating on.

No chance I'm going that early. I'll be warming my hands by a blazing pumpkin at least a week after that.

I'm targetting January.

I didn't turn it on but the heating in on in our house so I'm out for another year.

I go on holiday on the 20th Nov to the 6th Dec so I expect Dec 6th might be the day the heating goes on.
