Amazon only have the rights to games in December? What a weird thing to do, surely everyone will just sign up for a months free trial?

I guess the logic is, people will sign up for the free trial and then either forget to cancel it or see the benefits of the rest of Prime and continue? I dunno, it's not going to work for me, but there are people who would do that.

I guess but they’ve spunked a lot of money on Premier League rights and a large number of people will watch it for free and then cancel.

It would have made more sense if they had bought rights to a couple of games per month.

They should have bought the rights to all Luton Town games as Luton is the new Dubai so they could have had programs about how amazing it's going to be.

Years of content :toot: .

I'm pretty certain it would kick Chernobyl off the top of the IMDB ratings.
If Amazon can spend $1B on rubbish old Lord of the Rings they can chip in a few Billion for shows about Luton.

It won't top the next season of the Sunderland documentary on Netflix.

Amazon's customer is the advertiser. Us consumers are just incidental to them.

I believe the midweek December packages were the only ones basically left for Amazon to grab since Sky and BT get their dibs in first...

At least football fans can get their Christmas presents delivered quickly!

Amazon were just desperate to get any football coverage and this was most likely the cheapest way they could claim to have live Premiership football.
It wouldn't surprise me if next time the TV rights are sold Amazon, Netflix and Apple feature heavily with big bundles of cash on offer.

People visit Amazon at the start of December......people are buying last minute presents for xmas. People visit on boxing day......when their sales start. It's a smart move.

I'm not a Forrest Green fan but the stadium they were going to build looked amazing but in another shocking decision by local planners being pressured by nimby's they reject a fantastic new stadium build.

It had already won competitions for the club for the designs green credentials and the fact that they are well on the way to being completely carbon neutral.

I just hope they can get a positive re-application.

That's a real shame. I've looked at it before a few times and thought it looked like a great project.

How many of those Amazon games will people realistically be able to watch per day due to kick-off clashes?

Depends how many days the games are spread over, as they're both midweek matches (or the Boxing day ones)... In theory you're probably looking at 4/5 based on them all kicking off spread over 2/3 days...

But in this case it's more having the ability to choose the game, rather than limited to the choice of our TV overlords...
