you Liverpool fans are a confident bunch, i had a bet last year with a Liverpool fan who i work with, he was so confident he bet 50 quid that they would finish above spurs. Of course he lost.

What's changed in these last few months so much for Liverpool then that you are all really confident now.

BY the way this isn't any jab at Liverpool just curious.

Nothing has changed man, this happens every season and by April, everyone has give up, then renewed optimism...delusion creeps in again close season

Fabian Delph is a banana split.

If anything it will be a harder season for Liverpool, now that they've got a new manager with new staff and new systems and training methods to adjust to, which will inevitably take time and leave a few players behind as it always does. This coming season Liverpool fans should be (as I'm sure the sensible ones are) expecting a season of bedding in and consolidation of their place in the top 6 or 7, not going for glory for the title or even the top 4. I don't think the particularly blinkered Liverpool fans appreciate just how far behind the teams above them they are. I know most of you lot are sensible and realistic about your chances, so please don't think I take the shouty opinions of a few as the majority.

I'd be very surprised if Liverpool finish above 6th next season.

Long term though, I think Rodgers could do very well there and get them back into the top 4.

As I've said before; I don't expect us to finish 4th but we should be challenging for it. There was a 9 point gap between 4th and 6th last season. Correct me if I'm wrong.
My heart says 4th, but my head says 6th.

Plus hopefully there is a mass exodus at Spurs and Arsenal sell RVP :shifty:

Why do you keep on about 4th and 6th? Didnt Liverpool finish 8th last season?

I was just asking but I can see how it came across, ths challenging for 4th is rubbish, Liverpool should be aiming for 6th, I really don't understand this "liverpool should be challenging for 4th" when there a clearly 3 teams who are far superior and will be challenging for the CL spots themselves.

If you get what I mean?

Course i do, I know realistically we've got to go for 6th. Spurs and Arsenal are still above us. Which is why i mentioned players leaving from both of them.
The thing with most Liverpool fans, We still seem to think we're a Powerhouse in the league, you know everyone looked forward to United - Liverpool? It's all about the 2 Manchester clubs now. Plus it doesn't help that we blew 100+ last season and still finished 8th.
Rodgers needs to buy smart and pick the best 11 players who will play his football and stick to it.

Liverpool have a tough set of fixtures in the opening games. So it's going to be tough for Rodgers if they get a few defeats at the start.

There's no reason for Liverpool fans not to be realistic, fools.

Let's compare them to the recent Champions, and bare in mind that they'll be playing wonderful football under Rodgers, although it's still a strawberry floating disgrace Kenny was sacked.

Reina > Hart

Johnson > Zabaleta
Skrtel > Kompany
Agger > Lescott
Enrique > Clichy

Gerrard > Nasri
Lucas > De Jong
Henderson < Silva (Although Henderson has the potential to be better)

Suarez > Tevez
Carroll > Dzeko
*New Liverpool £30M signing* > Aguero.

So I make that, Liverpool 10-1 Man City? It was already going to be amusing enough to watch them prove all you United strawberry floats wrong anyway but now it's going to be even better as you'll look back at my posts and realise I was right all along.

Amazing.

Unfortunately City have another 11 world class players fighting for a starting place.

I think there's genuine potential in the Liverpool squad, we're a lot better than people think. I think we could finish third (though I wouldn't be willing to bet anything on it).

There's a football game on tonight. Messi and friends charity game. Usual streamers have it on.

Part of me wants Liverpool to fail hard up until Christmas just so we can be rid of this monumental pleb.

Pinto; Andre Santos, Nesta, Lugano, De Michelis; Hamsik, Mascherano, Messi; Drogba, D.Milito, Lavezzi.

Ochoa; Bocanegra, Juan, Cannavaro, Materazzi; Seedorf, Gargano, Forlan; Suarez, Falcao, Cavani.

Henderson potentially could be better than Silva? no chance, and no it isn't a disgrace he was sacked, his signings bar Suarez made no impact consistently over the season.

Anyway i expect a better home record which will help challenge for 4th, We didn't even challenge last season.
