In regards to city and Van Persie why would he go there bar money? Yes the team has a huge chance of retaining the PL title, but would he get the games in a team with Baloteii, Dezeko, Aguero, Tevez and adebayor there?

He's better than at least 4 of those. I really hope he stays with Arsenal though.

His injury record however would make me cautious about buying him for such large money

That really won't be of concern to City.

Shouldn't it be? I thought part of the financial rules coming in your outgoings would have to meet your income a lot more closely? Surely City aren't making huge money like Utd or Madrid?

We'll see how it works. Didn't Mancini say they were going to carry on spending? I'm sure they will get around it some how. When have footballing rules ever been taken seriously unless it's against small clubs?

Every club is going to be shedding players like no-ones business. Think League One and Two are gonna get a lot lot stronger with all the free agents flowing about. If a Championship club gets Gordon he will be one hell of an acquisition - but I think its also going to be more normal in the next couple of years.

But the rules have been designed specifically to tackle the big club's spending-what would be the point if they don't follow through on it?

They will only work though if they ban related party transactions otherwise you'll get situations like City's £400m sponsorship deal.

I don't think City's full complement of strikers will still be there come the start of next season anyway, so they'll be looking to bring in a couple of new faces up front.

Glowy - do you really think Holloway is an idiot? :?

Congrats to West Ham.

They took their chances, Blackpool didn't.
