40/1 was the longest I saw.

Well, it was just a passing comment to him when he heard McLeish was gone- I would've then, but can't access gambling sites at work and just plain forgot while submerged.

Daily Mail are saying that he's pretty much gone. The fact that Kean hasn't come out and said how wonderful his talks went with Venky's and that we have a big budget and an exciting summer ahead of us is also a positive sign.

I'm not so sure about Solskjaer, if Villa are going to take a punt on a young manager I think Martinez is the more calculated risk. I'm sure he could end up doing a good job for them, but the fact is he's only been a manager for a grand total of one year, the Villa fans seem awfully excited about a guy they know nothing about, no one knows how his teams play, what his man-management skills are like or how he is in the transfer market - and the fans will want significant investment in the team. At least Martinez has a decent amount of experience in the premier league, and we know he can play positive football with an average team. I suppose time will tell though, I'm sure he is a promising manager.

Was Martinez even an option for Villa once Wigan confirmed Liverpool had sought permission to speak to him? He probably wasn't going to take the Villa job before speaking to Liverpool and it would have made Villa look small time if Lerner had hung around waiting to see how Martinezs meeting with FSG went.

Annoyingly I think Solskjaer could do well for Villa.

He did. Fergie likes to have his verbal jabs at managers who he regards as a threat.

IIRC Rafa was shouting about a set-piece routine which was ignored and we scored anyway.
