I don't understand how the stories are contradictory. Its perfectly possible for two clubs to be interested in a manager or player. Just look at Phil Jones last summer when he turned down Liverpool and Arsenal to join Man Utd.

It would be interesting to see how Martinez would respond if he was approached about the Villa job at some point this week. Would he risk turning them down again based on the possibility of Liverpool being interested or would he go where the interest is real? He could also just turn down Villa out of loyalty to Wigan again.

I could be wrong, it may have been a few years back I read that.

We have 50 million to spend this summer.

The wage bill has been trimmed for the last two seasons. Repairing the damage that Pubehead did.

70million, we're giving you 20 for bent. :shifty:

Harry Ola wrote:It is funny the way the press reacts to things like Sunday. Suddenly there are articles springing up everywhere saying how United need major surgery. We just finished the campaign with 89 points, 9 more than when we won the title last year and a total we have only beaten in the Premier league twice (getting 90 points in 2008-9 and 91 in 1999-2000). What United need this summer is what we have needed every summer for about the last 5 years, 2 decent CMs.

Oh and Tevez :fp: . City apologising  .

The same articles crop up every year from the usual suspects, regardless of how successful United have been that season.

Alex McLeish to be Liverpool manager, BELIEVE!

Image

Also:

Ron Atkinson thinks McLeish was treated harshly. There is a small truth in there with what players had left and none was replaced properly. Plus, his time at a local bitter rivals didn't really help.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/18070294

Yes, I believe McLeish is a decent manager, IMO. He did a good job with Motherwell and Scotland, before his time with Rangers.

And The Guardian is saying that he's top of Villa's wishlist.

Only in the world of football 'news' could you have contradictory stories about the same person. Most of it's made up bollocks. Best to ignore it all and wait till things are confirmed.

This grudge against The Guardian you have is becoming more and more nonsensical.

:?

I'll admit I think the Guardian is a pile of wank, but that has nothing to do with my passing on of their story for this morning. They're reporting that Martinez is favourite, and I was stating that.

I worded my post badly as I was in a rush to leave for work. I just meant that football rumous and stories in general are often contradictory, and often made up by the sounds of some of them. We shouldn't listen to them, and should just focus on the facts.

Hoping they just moved him upstairs, If he has been sacked/moved then i imagine a replacement will be announced either today or tomorrow. Let's see who we get.

On one hand I think Dalglish should get another chance, the fact remains he is a club legend and if anyone deserves time to make something of that team it's him, there is also somewhat an element of luck in his failure as Liverpool have been without Lucas for half the season, and god knows how many times they've hit the woodwork - obviously the strikers need to take some blame, but you just can't really account for that.

On the other hand though, they definitely need a few more players in the squad, world class players, and Kenny has shown that he can't be trusted with that amount of money, and he's also shown that he doesn't know how to get the results on a consistent basis when key players are unavialable/not on form. Ultimately, it comes down to the quality of replacement that is available, as for the likes of Martinez, I think he has to prove himself a bit further up the table before being given a job like Liverpool.

I'd rather see Dalgish go now with a trophy under his belt, than see another poor season that could damage his reputation with the fans, as it did with Souness.

Some guy on twitter has sent Barton a letter:

Alright twat features?

I’m seeing my arse here as you’ve made such a bad show of yourself today, that I have finally been tipped over the edge and I’m having to put pen to paper on you, on a Sunday night. My Sunday Dinner hasn’t even settled yet, and I don’t think it will tonight due to the fact that you remain in the world. Quiff and all.

People have been asking me to do a letter to you for a while. Could never be arsed wasting my time on you, but, well, then TODAY happened.

As a person, you’re despicable.

You come from a family of pure gooseberry fool.

Your 'brother' and your ‘cousin’ murdered Anthony Walker, the young black lad, because he was black. #RIP

Your ‘cousins’ murdered an innocent Dad #RIP

And you:

May 2005 you broke a guy’s leg while driving your car through Liverpool city centre at 2 am.
March 2007 you got arrested for suspicion of assault on a taxi driver and criminal damage.
May 2008 you got 6 months in prison for assault and affray outside McDonalds.
July 2008 you got a four months suspended sentence for assault and ABH on a Man City team mate, ending your Man City career. You also got charged by the FA for violent conduct.

You & 'your family' are the kind of people that give Liverpool a bad name.

As a footballer, you’re despicable.

I'm not going to back track at all your other attention seeking sendings off, like the headbutt v Norwich which got you a straight red and QPR then lost 1-2 at home.

Its today that’s pissed me off.

Your team were fighting to avoid relegation, and you act the banana split and get a red card.
Then…. Your actions AFTER your red card? Just shouldn’t be seen on a football pitch. Your scum genetics took over and you kick out at Aguero who had nothing to do with your sending off. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not a City fan. And I’d rather have them win the league than Utd, so in a way THANKS FOR THAT.

But now you’re mouthing off on twitter about “who gives a strawberry float” .. and how you did what you had to do. And who cares, you stayed up, that’s all that matters? And that you are off to CELEBRATE?? Celebrate??? You should be sent home to sit on the strawberry floating naughty step lad.

Your team survived by the skin of your yellow teeth today. A penalty at Stoke v Bolton is what saved you. And you are strawberry floating lucky. Otherwise you and “your team” would be down, pretty much because of you. And no offence to any QPR fans reading, but I strawberry floating wish you had gone down just to teach your smug rat tashed strawberry floating face a lesson.

And then you start tweeting that a team mate told you to “take one of the city players with you”. Bad disgrace that. You should be banned for life. No place for players like you. The media are going to be all over that tweet, and all QPR players will get tarred with the cheating brush. Well done lad. There’s no I in team is there? But there’s a strawberry floating I in prick!

And setting aside the fact that you did it. Now you’re grassing? You can’t live life grassing that someone else told you to do something? Be your own man.

Mind you, Rick Astley told you to get that hair cut you’ve got, didn’t he.

Bottom line is, “Joseph”, underneath all your controversy and the BIG I AM act that you constantly hide behind, is the fact that you just aren’t that good. ARE YOU?

So you act up, stir controversy, mouth off, kick out, and play the big guns on twitter, to keep a name for yourself. Don’t you?

Lad, you play for a team that just survived relegation by an ant’s penis, and you’ve got the same amount of England caps as that David Nugent . ONE. strawberry floating David Nugent. Says it all. Thing is though, Nugent was born in Huyton too. But, guess what, he isn’t a bad disgrace to Merseyside. Or humans in general, is he?

Assess your life, lad. Assess your life. Because me and all the people that read and retweet this are telling you, you are strawberry floating bad at it.

Amazing, but just telling him the truth. To be fair the reported 10 match ban is worthy and you've got to think as a QPR player, who wants a player at the club like that especailly when he's going to be missing over 1/4 of the season.
