He had a 40 point removal clause in his contract.

Sacked. No compo 8-)

That definitely sounds like a contract someone with McLeishs track record in the Premier League would sign and not a load of absolute cobblers.

He hasnt been paid anything. There were clauses in hs contract everyone knew that, we just didnt think we would be that bad

I'm always suspicious about these stories that emerge about previously unheard of contract clauses.
For instance were a ton of stories last season just after Fenway took over at Liverpool saying they could sack Hodgson in the first 30 days after taking over and they wouldn't have to compensate him. Why on earth would Hodgson agree to something like that when he knew the club would be sold inside his first season?
Why would Mcleish agree to that 40 point clause when the club finished on 48 points the season before and two members of Villas starting eleven in Young and Downing would be sold and he would only get a fraction of that cash to spend?

Wonder if he did go over at the end of the game

City need to get rid.

Midfield problem solved, Scholes for another year.

Couldn't agree more, no need for gooseberry fool like that. :fp:

He didn't get paid at all. I think he lost out on £9m in bonuses alone. :fp:

Looks that way, we'll presumably get £5-6million compensation for him. Can't really complain too much given that's how we got him in the first place.

Talented though he is, there is nothing certain about him making it and we have an abundance of talent coming through our youth system, if he thinks the grass is greener elsewhere then good luck to him, I won't be losing any sleep over it I'll tell you that much!

I'm not sure Tevez knew what the writing on the banner meant. That whole RIP thing doesn't exist in Spanish culture at all, certainly not in South America. I had to explain it ot some of my students once and they spoke really good English too, but they had never heard of that. I'm guessing somebody just gave it to him to hold up.

Steve Kean's a bit like Del Boy. He comes across as almost delusional.

They did, it was some guy on the bluemoon forum. He posted a thread bragging about it that has since been hastily deleted.

Frankly its just amusing that on the celebration of the biggest day in their history they've had to issue a public apology to United because of that.

I don't think this is far wrong. He's a confidence trickster, somehow he still has a job, and he gives the impression he'll do whatever it takes to hold onto it.
