Barca's defense isn't exactly rock solid, if you have a go at them you can rattle them, Real showed that at the Camp Nou, now people might say Real have world class players like Ronaldo, which is fair enough, but the reason Barca were ten points behind Real at one stage in La Liga is because the smaller teams in La Liga wern't afraid to have a go at them and get the results they needed.

Yes, smaller teams who probably cost the same as a single Chelsea player didn't have to resort to sticking ten men in the box to get results against them, yet this is what they did, and they did the same again against the second best team in Germany

I'm happy for all the Chelsea fans however , so congrats to them, but Chelsea were dominated against Bayern & Barca and luck swung their way in just the right moments for them to go on and win the competition.

How insightful.

Honestly, this strawberry floating thread, heaps praise on and jumps to defend that Chelsea performance last night, yet chastises anyone who praises one of the best football sides in the history of the game. Why do you lot even watch football, is it to be entertained, or just to have something to talk about with your mates in the pub?

Your on to something there, if you take out the best bits of the match after Chelsea picked themselves up from going a goal down in the last 10 minutes, scoring and saving a penalty then yes you could say there tactics failed them and they were shite. Not to mention they played better in extra time and better at penalties. It's hard to think when taking out fine margins from football games the result and performance could look so different . . . Well done you know football better than most Luke

Cry more. You'll get a nosebleed on that high horse of yours.

I wouldn't say we heaped praise on chelsea. Hardly going to heap praise on Bayern though. Well done for missing chances, bottling it and penalties in the biggest game of the season. As much as i wanted Munich to win - i'm glad that horrible little gooseberry fool Robben missed a penalty (as well as about 10 shots in the match) and lost. He was too gutless to make amends in the shootout, too.

No one is chastising anyone for praising Barcelona. We rightly ridicule Dblock for his lack of grace and Ginga and yourself for the ludicrous premise that Barca somehow deserved to go through against Chelsea. Despite not winning either leg or being ahead at any point over the two legs. When they only needed one goal against ten men at home and still didn't go through. How that makes them deserving is beyond me. Even their strawberry floating manager admitted it.
Barca are a great team. One of the greatest that has ever graced the sport. Any animosity towards them is a direct result of comments from the likes of you, Ginga (and especially the dutch fair weather man) that imply we should be grateful for them and worship them without question. You act as if the beautiful game was invented by them and anyone that beats them is subverting it.

Barca in full flow are a pleasure to watch. There is pleasure in opposing that, though. With solid defence and superb organisation and concentration. Like fire and ice.

You only seem to like the first bit and are contemptuous of the second bit. Shame really.

I haven't seen such a high text to post ratio in a thread since the Liverpool buy Andy Carroll/this is our year debacle.

Chelsea won and strawberry float all will change it. Whether the manner of the win is that of the knight on his charger, gleaming and all conquering or that of the pick pocket, is neither here nor there.

I'll be hearing about this for months now due to having a mum and two brothers that are life long Chelsea fans. I'm gaining greater solace from our PL win by the hour.

You obviously haven't read any of my posts, or are just putting words in my mouth in order to get your point across, so I think I've taken this discussion as far as it can go.

To steal a Stewart Lee joke and modify it for my own purposes, the inexorable rise of Gary Neville as a commentator and pundit makes me long for the days when a regional accent was considered a professional disadvantage.

Let's pause for a moment and spare a thought for Harry redknapp's dog's arse.

I imagine it's sore today.

Congratulations to Chelsea. Though I have to admit, the more I saw John Terry, the more I wanted Bayern to win. I'm not sure I can support England this summer, such is my dislike of him.

Spurs :(

This ZonalMarking.net piece sums it up well.

Despite losing the tie, Bayern won the tactical battle. The fluidity of their two deep midfielders meant they kept on creating good chances, while Muller’s positioning was a continual problem and something Chelsea never responded to. Roberto Di Matteo’s side defended much better against Barcelona (even if Pep Guardiola’s side also created chances), which was probably because they played with an extra holding midfielder in that match, rather than because of the selection problems in defence tonight.
Indeed, Chelsea’s last-ditch defending was superb – David Luiz and Gary Cahill played remarkably well considering both were injury doubts, while Ashley Cole’s ability to spot danger and react to it quickly was once again highly impressive. Petr Cech also starred in goal, and while Mikel couldn’t cover the entire space in front of the defence, he did his job manfully.
Just as in the Europa League final, the FA Cup final and the German Cup final, the more reactive side emerged victorious.

Well... Chelsea won.

End of the strawberry floating debate. All the moaning and grumbling? Just take it to UEFA and they'll tell you "we cannot do anything!"

So...

SHUT THE strawberry float UP. I AM SICK OF ALL THIS BULLSHIT.

As much it pains me to see John Terry holding the cup up, or Chelsea winning it. It's all over. Being defensive is a tactic and it sometimes pay off. End of the bloody discussion.

Now... Can we all strawberry floating move on?

Gutted Gutted Gutted. As much as I don't like the rule that now makes us forfeit our place in qualifying, it's hard to blame anyone but ourselves after dropping a 13 point gap and then failing to beat Norwich at home, Villa away.

I wonder how much responsibility Bale and Modric will feel, enough to convince them to stay?

Oh well, at least I've got Euro 2012 to bring me some joy, as England will definitely win the tourn.... Oh.

Well at least we've got a squad full of in-form players like Glen Johnson, Downing, Walcott and.. No, that's not right.

I can take comfort in the fact that we've at least got a team of reputable guys, No racists, unfaithful husbands, drunken louts and granny shaggers.... Ah, gooseberry fool.

FML.
