It was called 1-2 Switch :dread:

I mean a game IP made by more than 3 YTS employees.

A new IP would be great, still no way they release it without a couple of big hitters, they don’t want a second Wii U on their hands……

It’s good they have set expectations early for the June Direct, I imagine this year will be carried by the odd smaller game (Nintendo World Championships NES Edition, new Pushmo) and ports/Remasters (Kirby Rainbow Paintbrush, one of either WW HD or TP HD, Metroid Prime 2&3 HD)

Exciting times ahead though :toot:

Gamefreak are holding out and will release it as a £60 standalone per version copy for the Switch 2. :slol:

I know I sound like a broken record, but I just don’t get why they’ve not been released for people to buy yet

If it was £60 for half the games I know I’d probably buy both half’s so I had access to them all, I’m part of the problem after all

Hmmn... an announcement of an announcement :fp: . With the announcement to be made by March 2025, I wonder when the actual release will be scheduled?

I doubt that Nintendo would make the announcement and release the system this side of Christmas; they'll look to get a final sales bump from Switch over the holiday period. Maybe they'll announce in January for a March launch? This release timing would match up with the Switch in 2017 and enable the launch sales to hit before the end of this financial year.

The announcement of an announcement is for investors benefit mainly, they are a publicly traded business after all. They need to signal their plans for the future.

They announced Switch 1 in October for a March release with a proper January reveal presentation. I'm expecting similar this time. It worked very well after all.

This. Likelihood is the next 12 months will be quiet and less profitable than usual (albeit inevitably still very good). They need to manage expectations and reassure investors that the cavalry is coming.

If the Switch was announced in 2015 but didn't launch until 2017, wouldn't that suggest we may be waiting until 2026 at the very earliest? I'd hope for Oct announcement and March 2025 launch.

I think they need to go as early as possible as the Switch is really struggling now. Tears felt like it squeezed every last inch out of it, and there is nothing mega on the horizon. 2024 surely has to be the last Christmas for it.

I'd like to see Switch 2 launch with a new Mario for once. Wasn't the last console released with a proper Mario way back on the N64?

It was revealed earlier last time due to the fact Wii U failed so they needed to get the message out that they were working on the successor. No such need this time, today was a message to let investors know it’s coming in light of lower profits heading into this year. I also wouldn’t be surprised if they are concerned it may start leaking more as manufacturing begins so they want to try and get ahead of things.
