I'm really nervous about how the DLC will affect the nature of the gameplay. The grenade launcher and free-to-all auto-rifle seem over-powered...but then it's not as if a smart player couldn't overcome munitions in normal play anyways.

It's the new abilities that threaten to completely change the way the game feels. I think this guys from NeoGAF has hit the nail on the head for me.

Haven't played TLOU multiplayer for a long time, but some of this stuff sounds potentially game-breaking to me.
Bomb Expert / Your bombs will explode more quickly and you’ll be immune to the stun of your own smoke bomb as you level up this skill.

Scavenger / Automatically pick up ammo and supplies and see increases in drops from enemies with this valuable skill. At level 3 enemies sometimes drop a random crafting ingredient.

Fortitude / Downed? Level up this skill and it will help you survive longer as you’ll take longer to bleed out, crawl faster, and have more health when downed. At higher levels you’ll start with an extra health pack, and earn extra parts each time you heal.

Agility / Climb, vault, and move while crouching faster than you could before. At level 3 you are nearly impossible to hear while moving.

Awareness / See enemy nametags before they see yours and enemy nametags remain on screen for several seconds when taking fire.

This feels more like stuff that should be in COD rather than TLOU. These feel like unnecessary additions to the game that conflict with some of the great elements of the multiplayer, like crafting and scavenging (you are at risk while picking stuff up / crafting stuff and need to make choices as to what resources you use for what like choosing to craft a molotov over a medkit) and being able to rely upon certain mechanics being the same for everyone (smoke bombs stun the thrower as well, so they can't just run up to you and throw it at the floor for a free shiv / all grenades have the same fuse time so you always have a certain time frame to get away / everybody climbs and moves at the same speed).

I really hope they're not as game-breaking as they sound.

This isn't good news at all. The tension will be all but eliminated.

I'm glad all that gooseberry fool isn't in the PS4 version and I hope not many players buy in to this stuff either.

Sounds like someone overreacting without having even the slightest notion of how it will actually affect the game.

Not at all. You can't imagine it yourself?

Seriously, not all additions/changes are good. Usually I couldn't care less but in this case I care a lot and I absolutely agree this has the potential to change the tempo/feel of what has become one of gamings best multiplayer games.

In order to have these loadouts you have to sacrifice something else, you know this, right? They're not gonna be some supersoldier types running around.

Can't see anything even remotely game breaking in there, impossible to tell until you play with it though.

It's generally a very well balanced game though som I'm sure they'll get it right.

Sorry I missed them but I didn't finish work until 10 and just needed to collapse for a bit.

What.

Dare I say it. I'm almost starting to agree with you that the semi-auto is overpowered. The lack of the need to reload tips it over the edge.

Exactly. That's the thing with it.

It's the only starting weapon that can body shot down two people without reloading and it's also the most versatile. It shouldn't have both.

I still prefer the burst though. Like the other day on that interrogation match on university where I spawned on you. I just charged upto that guy and shot him in the face 8-)
