The development team held a Q&A on Discord today and the subject of the battle pass was covered:

mp1st.com wrote:Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League Battle Pass – What’s Included and How Does It Work?

In a Q&A hosted on the official Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League Discord channel, Rocksteady revealed how the battle pass system works in Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. We’ve summarized it in a shorter format, but if you want to read the full answer you can do so below.

> A new one will be available every season.
> Battle passes won’t be locked to a season, meaning they won’t disappear after a season ends, and players can go back to old ones whenever.
> It will be cosmetics only (skins, emotes, banners, and swatches), with some currency, and feature 75 tiers.

For the most part, it’s your standard Battle Pass aside from the fact that you’ll be able to play any of the passes at any time, regardless of season. That’s a wise choice to make, something we’ve seen in other titles, such as Halo Infinite.

Darius Sadeghian, Studio Director:

We received a lot of questions about the Battle Pass and there’s a lot to cover here, so I’ll try to break it all down.

The Battle Pass in Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League will be cosmetics-only, have both a Premium and free track, and a new Battle Pass will be released with each Season. The first Battle Pass will be released with the launch of Season 1, a few weeks after the game’s initial release.

There will be 75 tiers to complete in Season 1’s Battle Pass and included within will be Outfits, Emotes, Banners, Swatches and some premium currency. This can be used to purchase cosmetic items in the store or go towards purchasing future Premium Battle Passes.

We’re also happy to announce that you will be able to go back and play previous Battle Passes after a Season ends. We believe that our team has created some of the best looking cosmetic items ever, and we want those to be available for our players to enjoy without fear that they’ll miss out on anything.

And as a reminder each Season will have a new playable character, a new Elseworld to explore, LOADS of new gear, new missions to play and more all for free! The Premium Battle Pass is an optional extra for those who want to look extra fly while kicking some Brainiac butt. And keep in mind, all purchasable items are completely optional and do not affect gameplay in any way.

Sounds pretty reasonable. I like the idea of having lots of new cosmetics and the ones that have been shown look neat.

Yep, there won't be any pre-release reviews for the game - usually I'd see this as a red flag but I guess that, as a primarily online game, one would want the reviews to be based on actual gameplay in the release environment.

I think jawa has Stockholm syndrome and the game isn’t even out yet. This was likely greenlit before the avengers flopped and nothing I’ve seen indicates it will have a better fate.

^ Yeah, this was correct - review codes are to be issued once the online servers are turned on.

I don't see why it couldn't be reviewed before the servers were switched on if it's meant to have single player in mind as well.

Yeah, it probably should be possible for single-player mode, Pedz - but, at launch, the game is all online even if you choose to play it alone. An update will arrive at a later date to allow single-players to play completely offline if they want to.

This is a bit suspicious. Plenty of online only games have pre-release reviews. They usually just let all the journalists play together privately ahead of release.

We should migrate GRcade to Flarum. :toot:

Yeah, I’m sure they could have turned the servers on 1-2 weeks early for reviewers.

It goes live 3 days before with a 72 hour early access thing-are they at least sending out codes for that?

Suicide Squad's "early access" period will start to go live around the world late Monday night on consoles (and 10am PT Tuesday on Steam), which means that's when it's officially out, practically speaking. Unfortunately, we won't have a review of Rocksteady's new game-as-a-service looter shooter for you right away, as codes have not been sent ahead of time – in fact, Warner Bros. Games informed IGN that it has declined to send us codes at all.

That's disappointing because we always strive to have a full opinion on a major game available for you at launch, but it's well within WB's rights, as sending out review codes is neither an obligation nor something we take for granted. We will purchase our own copies and start our review in progress, guides, and other coverage the moment it launches, and we'll have impressions up as soon as we can after that. Thanks for being patient!

Suicide Squad Devs Lay Out Battle Pass, Endgame Plans And They Sound…Good?

Rocksteady developers behind the upcoming Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League—a DC villain-themed open-world co-op looter shooter—revealed some new details and thoughts behind the game’s battle pass, seasons, and endgame content. And while it’s still a live-service game that will likely have its own issues come launch, I’m feeling optimistic about it based on these recent answers that, at least on paper, sound good...

We’re aware that a number of players are currently experiencing an issue whereby upon logging into the game for the first time, they have full story completion.

To resolve this issue, we will be performing maintenance on the game servers.

During this time the game will be unavailable. We expect this to take several hours and will update once we have more information.

Game is so bad it completes itself to prevent anyone else having to do it :slol:

The game isn't available yet in the west (it launches - for Deluxe Edition purchasers - at midnight tonight); I'm guessing that this error has been identified by gamers in Australia/NZ.

This whole game is cursed, feel sorry for the developers who must be having a really rough time right now.

The developers seem fine; on the game's Discord channel they've come across as very positive and appear eager to get folks playing the game.

Sure, some previews were not complimentary but there were plenty of positive ones, too. You can pretty much find whatever perspective you want to make the game seem good or bad and it feels like a bit of an internet pile-on is underway as with No Man's and F76.
