Do you or have you ever found that your standards are too high?

As you may all know I have only recently started to try dating. Online etc

But I really think my standards and expectations were too high. At first I thought I'd get messages off people all the time but no. I only got a very few and from people who I don't find attractive.

Then I realised I have to be more outgoing and message to people I like the look off. So far I have been ignored by these types of people I am attracted to.

So far only one person who I like the look off has spoken to me. But after 1 day or so we stopped talking and now my messages are getting ignored...wtf?

I just didn't realise dating would be as difficult as this. Any advice and experience you can share about your past experiences?

as far as standards go - I always find that a bit stupid - just go for what you are attracted to

Yup - from my experience it's definitely a numbers game, at least to start with. You almost have to shotgun messages out to lots of people you like and pay attention to the ones that reply, forget the ones that don't.

It might be worth posting the text of your profile in here, people have done that before and other folks have helped to improve it. What sort of pictures have you put on your profile?

Really can't understate how important it is that you get your profile right, it's beyond easy for someone to just click off your profile and on to the next one.

My profile pics are selfies of myself. A few close ups of my face and some at arms length.
I know what you mean about profile pictures though. I am also not getting much attention on apps like grinder and hornet. But after i put of pic of me wearing a vest top it changed lol. Got some extra messages.
Also guys are asking for private pics...no way thats happening though.
I doubt the text will matter much as people just judge u on profile pic first. I will probably post it later. Tbh its not very unique what i wrote. More of a CV listing my interests lol

So the semi-serious thing she needed to tell me is that she has a mild form of graves disease, which is in remission now, so nothing too terrible then. The second thing was she is worried about getting her visa extended as her employer might not be able to get her a work permit, a more pressing issue but still nothing too terrible.

Glad to hear it's not some STD or that she used to be a man or something.
