Makes sense for them to have a dedicated football channel seeing as they have a dedicated Formula One channel. Although the only “extra” footie seems to be the Dutch league.

The big problem is how they are planning to fill the content gap when the Champions League goes to BT. Coverage of the Dutch League is a bonus I guess.

The Europa League is going to BT as well, isn't it?

Why? Where's too much sport on TV already.

I don't get what the point is, if bar the Dutch league, the rest of it is currently on the other channels? There's enough repeats as it is. What a coup, the Dutch league :|

I don't think you get to complain about there being too much sport on TV if you're watching Sky Sports 5.

As it’s a subscription based channel, I think you will find it easy to avoid it if you don’t want it.

Oh I don't even subscribe to sky. Murdoch is getting as little of my money as I can manage. I'm just moaning.

You’re moaning about a new channel being added to a TV service that you don’t subscribe to?

Yeah if they actually had stuff like Italian, French and Bundesliga leagues combined with their Spanish then this would be a pretty neat idea. But without all that and considering they'll actually be losing coverage soon, I'm not sure what this channel will be filled with.

They are just covering their bases for when they lose more stuff to BT.

That David Beckham quote is the most obviously misattributed I've ever seen. Blatantly one of the Sky PR team that wrote that, and never did a particularly good job of it.

Anyway strawberry float paying for SS, will continue to stream games I don't get on regular tv.
