When you're travelling the overworld from the settlement you picked the quest up to the glowing "the level starts here" waypoint you're in a public server with other people. Or you were the last time I gave it a go. And the only truly "private" way of playing Sea of Thieves is in a streaming server which doesn't save any progression.
I found what we played of A Pirate's Life so boring, too
Think we only did the first episode or two.
Apart from the fact they you pick A Pirate's Life from the main menu which then puts you in A) a low population server and B) a server where no one is close to you (this is true of the main game btw) ever wonder why you don't spawn on an island with no one on it, or near?
You spend maybe 10mins maximum before sailing into the gate, no chance of being attacked in that time...If you didn't enjoy a Pirates Life, fair enough, personally, I'd have it as one of my Games of last year but DLC's don't really count, full of piratey nonsense with and a graphical showcase.
