Downside is that we don't end up making child's play look better.

Sounds like a good idea to me, I've emailed Child's Play and asked them if they have any suggestions.

HMV to Alder Hey is a bit of a hike, might be easier if I pick up the Wii and meet you at Broadgreen station (that's easier for me to get to on a work day)?

Sure thing, if you want come with me, or drop it off I live right next to Alder Hey. (And that was helpful when I was a kid, taking a fall or whatever and being able to go there was cool)

We should migrate GRcade to Flarum. :toot:

This shows the gifts they can accept, seems to be totally acceptable to bring in new packaged consoles, so there should be no problem! :D

Can we do a bit more than the Nintendo Wii given the number of users?

Shadow you've got me thinking we could do a bit more even if half the registered users popped in £1 we would have enough for 2 !

NEWS!

I've been on to Child's Play, they've spoken to Alder Hey and added a black Wii with Motion+ and Wii Sports Resort to the list at £165!

With the response that we've had so far I think we need to aim higher than just the Wii, we could get games, but I doubt they'll have much trouble getting games donated, so if people are in agreement I reckon we go for extra Wiimotes? It'd suck to have a Wii and not be able to play multiplayer.

Are we going to hack it to play copied games? Only an idea like.

Well, you've bought yourself 17, might as well help someone else get one.

WHERE'S IT GOING TO END, RIK?

This is great. It'll make me feel like all the hours I've spent on here weren't just for nothing if we can do this! Warms the heart, it does.

Dig deep!

I'll see what I've got next week. Good thread.

Only problem is, how is it explained to the kids. Usually they send some flyer out to say thank you to everyone who has donated, and it gives the companies who donate good advertising. I'm not sure GRcade.com would be appropriate to display. Might be awkward to explain to kids and their parents.

"This bunch off people off GRcade.com bought you this!"
"Thats amazing!! *Goes to GRcade*

Whilst I don't have specific answers, Child's Play is a charity for gamers to give games to people so presumably it's not unusual for things to be gifted by faceless companies and communities.
